my favourites are all-star superman and a superman for all seasons by tim sale and jeph loeb (my fave origin story def recommend!). i also really enjoyed the Red Son elseworlds story.
Since people became self indulgent wankers and hated being challenged on their weak justifications for taking the easy way out. I hear over and over about how he's too goody goody (that's been around for what, 40 years?) or they don't like the no killing code. Well that's not easy.
It would be easy to indulge in base emotions, to use your gifts to your own ends, etc. But that doesn't mean it's good, and if Superman ceases to be good, then he's not Superman. People don't like anything, even an icon, that reminds them that we can be better than we are. It challenges them, it chastizes them, and at times it reprimands them. There was a time when that wasn't out of line in our culture. I fear it now is. Hence the hate.
Brilliant post

Wait until you see Man OF Steel trailer....
I can't wait to for Dark Knight Rises to see the trailer, is the trailer good?
Superman's determination to never kill is one of the reason's why he stands above most other heroes. I'm not against killing in comics (someone seriously needs to kill the joker), but Superman should never do it.
I'm pretty sure new52 Superman (from action comics), could get evidence on Lex, with his new tactic of bullying criminals until they confess. If that doesn't happen then I think it's about time Supes threw Lex into the phantom zone.
For me personally I never encounter situations that seem implausible in Batman comics, however when he's with the JLA or JLI I constantly have to remind myself that he doesn't have super powers.
