My favorite characters from comics ranked from highest to lowest in personal cool factor.

List items

  • Lorna Dane is the coolest female character in Marvel's character catalogue. Magneto is the coolest villain, so the the coolest chick has to be someone just like him. Plus green is by the far the coolest color ever...theres just too much win here.

  • Rich Rider is one of coolest heroes Marvel's got and I loved the reinvention hes been getting. His solo series was so incredible why was it cancelled? Ugh.

  • Coolest costume in comics, period! Use him more!

  • I love her personality and her wacky origin of being a romance comic character. Her true uniqueness is what defines her and I think that should be explored more in her appearances. Embrace the quirkiness!

  • Best villain ever! Great look, personality, powers, everything. Hes a lesson in Comic Book 101 for what to make when creating a good antagonist.

  • Magneto's awesome son is one of the neatest characters, IMO. Hes cocky, quick to temper and after reading Son of M, which captured him perfectly, it shows the potential he has in his own series. Give him another shot, Marvel!

  • All of Magneto's family is amazing and his other daughter is no exception. I may not have agreed to the storyline that had her going a bit crazy to destroy the Avengers, but she is one powerful witch ain't she?

  • Her personality is top notch fun and her visual is astounding. Gaining a form of Magik's ability really propelled her to popularity which she rightfully deserves. I hope she continues on the X-Men for a long time.

  • One of my favorite X-Men characters, Alex just exudes coolness. Whenever he's in a comic I get incredibly excited. He doesn't even belong in Scott's shadow.

  • This guy is absolutely hilarious and NEEDS to be brought back. Marvel you have struck gold with this character. The Avengers have Squirrel Girl as their WTF character. Its time the X-Men had one and he is PERFECT.

  • Prob. Marvel's leading female hero at the moment, and rightfully so. Once an expected female knockoff a male hero, she not only completely transcended her male counterpart, but became even more popular than he ever was. Pretty impressive, I think.

  • Bucky Barnes was originally a laughing stock in comics. His name was hilarious, rhymed with a certain swear and was generally dismissed as a waste of time. Then Ed Brubaker completley reinvented everything about this character and turned him into one of Marvel's most badass and interesting characters ever. Bucky turned from forever in the grave to scores of fans begging for his return. Winter Solider is awesome.

  • Great visual and powerset. Both the AoA version and 616 version. What she can do with her powers at full level is just mind boggling. Must be fun to write!

  • The Mighty Thor is such an epic character. His haughtiness is one of my favorite quirks about him not to mention his power and skillset as a hero. Hes one of Marvel's most badass characters and powerful to boot. I love reading about Thor flying in and decimating something.

  • One of my favorites. Very unique powers that aren't always explained fully. Its not actually fire but microwaves and that just adds so much more to her powerset. Hopefully we can see some more of her.

  • The most underrated Marvel hero in their current stable of characters...this guy can completely wallop everyone and he just doesn't because of his morals as a king. Super amazing character.

  • Eddie Brock is awesome, and he was one of my favorite characters and visuals when I was little. I miss reading about him as Venom, its been a looonng time.

  • I had always had a passing interest in Nightwing even when I was a kid, but never read a thing about him. I loved his costume though. When the New 52 launched, Nightwing was the only definitive thing I knew I wanted and man did I miss a fun character. Lively, a lot less serious than Bats but still skilled and formiddable. Hes really well rounded and Bruce would learn a lot in the personality department from him.

  • Julia Carpenter is the true Spider-Woman in my eyes. Shes even the inspiration for the Venom symbiote so give her credit for in turn creating one of the best Spider-Man villains!

  • Batman. Whats there to say that hasn't already been said? A timeless superhero design, an incredible character in every sense of the word. One of, if not the best superhero creations ever.

  • Died too soon, but heroically. A great visual to his power as well. Here's hoping he comes back soon.

  • I love Hawkeye for many things. His simpleness in powerset is one of his coolest attributes as he can take on the worst of his enemies regardless, but his drive to succeed and be as noble and as good a hero as Captain America is admirable. Great, great character.

  • I love her personality and would love to see her a bit more. Maybe in an Exiles relaunch?

  • Great look, powerset and personality. A powerful trifecta in getting people to like comic book characters. Tony's just awesome.

  • One of the most iconic X-Men characters, Jean is by no means the same character she was when she started her comic book stint. Shes one of, if not the most powerful female hero Marvel has created. I really enjoy her compassion and heart that she has whenever she speaks with anyone. She's a humble woman who enjoys the occasional wild streak the Phoenix gives her. And the attention of Wolverine too. Jeans too cool.

  • One of the original X-Men and coolest of the team (pun intended). He doesn't seem to be spotlighted as much anymore which is a shame but I hope that changes, he just has so much potential that we still haven't seen. Stop teasing us and show us what he can do!

  • While a lot of people seem to write Bobbi off as a Black Canary clone (and it does have some merit), she is still a very likeable and interesting character. The recent Hawkeye/Mockingbird series delved into her and Clint's relationship amazingly and showcased her personality perfectly. If only we could get more spotlight on her more often.

  • One of my favorite Avengers simply for the underrated Geoff Jones stint on the title and of course the end of Busiek's fabulous run. I really wish he was still around.

  • Great costume and personality for Johnny. Its a shame we don't see as much of him anymore. The Slingers were so great. Why can't Johnny be on Utopia with everyone else?

  • Jonothon Starsmore has been through a lot in his comic tenure. I really enjoy his powerset and visual, but I really like his personality and the hand he's been dealt. His powers bless him with raw power but he can never speak nor eat again, only speak telepathically. Plus hes british and I seem to like a lot of brits.

  • The longest running female ongoing solo book by Marvel should show you how loyal fans are of this gal. She brings Spider-Man fans back to basics in that book and the happy-go-lucky attitude that it used to have. I hope and expect to return to Mayday soon...please prove me right Marvel!

  • Great visual. She's actually in the ride in Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida! Random but pretty cool. Wonder why we don't even hear anything about her anymore?

  • No surprise here, he's hilarious in almost all of his appearances. That one comic I own where Wade travels back in time to an old Spider-Man adventure is one of the funniest comics I've ever read.

  • Barbara's awesome. She has a lot of history for a comic character and her story is really tragic but also inspiring. Shes a very strong female character and its no wonder fans really root for her time after time.

  • The Darkforce dimension is a very interesting powerset and Darkstar was always pretty prominent as being one of the more recognizable Russian heroes. Now that shes returned from the dead, I hope we see her more.

  • A very interesting backstory got me involved with his character and was happy to see when he returned to Marvel's pages in the Initiative. I hope he continues to make appearances.

  • Julian is a great character personality wise. His powers may seem tired at this point, but hes such a strong character in the way he acts that it doesn't matter. I'm always curious to what hes doing.

  • Kate Kane is an incredibly sassy character and one I just recently was introduced too. She has a lot of mystery around her but she has a spunk and sarcastic tone to her that I like a lot.
