Backstories Wanted!

Characters I would love to see get a one-shot (or in some cases a limited-edition series) backstory/history/coming into their powers issue. Or better yet, find a way to get Marvel to let me write one because I don't think fanfiction would do them justice and I have ideas for most of them.
   - most of them are character from Xavier's Institute, I know, but there were so many of them that were created for just that and never went any further.

List items

  • I know she had a little bit of her history in issue 11 of New Mutants (II), but it would be cool to see how she met Sean Garrison and what it was like to raise the daughter of the man who did that to her. Because she clearly loved Laurie more then anything and that takes an amazingly strong person.

  • She's really cool. Despite the rejection of her parents and her feelings for Kevin Ford (and what he became), she kept her cheery disposition and stayed strong throughout everything. I think it would be cool to see her from when she developed her Mercury form and how she arrived at the institute.

  • She's cool and pessimistic. And gets the short end of the stick almost every time. Her small parts are almost always essential to the storyline and give her a great amount of depth despite the infrequency of them. I think it would be awesome if she had either a coming-into-her-mutation or a wry one-shot on her perspective on what's going on around her now.

  • How she grew up and what lead her to hiding in Atlantic City with her father for so many years is a mystery. Not to mention the obvious question; Who is her mother and what happened to her? It could be that Marvel is waiting for a really good moment to tell this is a incredibly shocking way, but I think it would make a really good four or six part limited series. It could show how she knew so much about Jamie Madrox and what made her decide to stay in her ruby form for so long.

  • Or, perhaps more specifically, his dupes. Throughout the newest X-Factor title, there have been references to Jamie's knowledge and his ability to do things that have come from the experiences of his dupes. Since Jamie is so into his internal monolog, it would be narrated by him on how he feels about the choices they made, what they experienced and how it fits into the Noir perspective. It would have to be at least six issues, one or two dupes per issue.

  • What situation did her powers develop in and how did she react to it _before_ the Government registered her as a mutant? Also, what was her role in the Rebellion in its earliest stages? I don't remember her being in any of the series that dealt with Cable's future (before X-Factor), so why is that?

  • Despite being a member of Emma Frost's squad, the Hellions, and Julian Keller's best friend, I don't find that Brian Cruz was ever given all that much personality or time. I found it interesting that when the Kingmaker let them choose one wish, he picked being Hellion and Rockslide's agent. His desire to help out his friends before all else could have been explored to much greater depths, yet it wasn't. Perhaps something like his role in scenes of New X-Men (II) in which he was never shown.

  • He clearly has loving parents and is a very strong adolescent. But I wish we could have seen just what happened after Scott closed Xavier's and before he was visited by Northstar in the X-Men: Divided We Stand short.

  • She was pretty much just used as filler or character development for her brother, but I would have liked to see how she dealt with David's leaving to go to Xavier's (pre-New X-Men) and what she thought of what happened after M-Day.

  • The newest team. How did "Night Thrasher" recruet this team of discards and outcasts? Jubilee seemed to have found a life after M-day and Barnell & Angel had a family they were taking care of. How was he able to convince them to give up their new lives to become superheros again?

  • Leong Coy Manh and his twin sister Nga Coy Manh have had tiny rolls when Karma needed to be shown as having a life outside the X-Men. But where are they now and what are they doing?
