Zatanna did what she and others thought would be in his best interest. nothing malicious. If he anything he should like her because she'll have his safety/well being as a main priority."John Valentine said:Not the outcome?"pixelized said:OMG yes it. She wouldn't have done it did she not think it was good for him. It's your intentions that classify your actions as good or bad""John Valentine said:That's not the point. It's the effect of the action which matters, not the intent with which it was done or the action itself.""pixelized said:push me out of the way of an on coming bullet, only to land in the street and be hit by a car later, you did what was thought to to be best in that moment... can't fault you for that.""John Valentine said:It really depends on the flavour of the lollipop. Cherry would warrant a suicide attempt, Cola would result in suicide completion."pixelized said:but they were both down with good intentions. Me taking the lollipop from you could result in you committing suicide after. But how am i to know that? Batman wasn't supposed to know, a decision was made that everyone thought to be best at the time. For him to still hold a grudge now would be ridiculous. They've known each other since they were kids, he knows she wouldn't intentionally harm him""John Valentine said:The difference is that taking a lolly pop away will not result in me having a nervous breakdown, wiping someone's memory only for them to later find out would, especially considering that Bruce Wayne is already a rather cynical and mistrusting man.""pixelized said:She did it because she thought it was best for him.. like me taking away a lollipop from you because i don't want you to rot your teeth. there was no mal intent behind her actions."John Valentine said:No, but she was under no obligation to do so. It was better than the stuff just before, I hated the ventriloquist arc, it was so lame."The ventriloquist was pretty dumb...and Dini trying to establish a romantic involvement between Zatanna and Batman was equally stupid.I think theres a big difference between writers like Morrison who write to make you think, and Dini who write and have written pretty predictable stuff. It didn't help that he teamed up with Dustin Nyugen(sp). I hated that art."
When did that happen again? Identity Crisis? I must re-read that."
I believe so."
It wouldn't be ridiculous for a man of Batman's mentality to hold a grudge, it may not be a very big one, but the feeling of mistrust would always linger.
If you had a friend, whom you had known since childhood ,who abused your trust in a similar fashion, I doubt that you would ever be able to fully trust them again. Taking into acount Brucie's inate sense of cycnism and mistrust, this sense of mistrust is greatly amplified.
He may know that she wouldn't intentially harm him, but she acted in a way which wasn't in his best interests, which cuased dire consequences.
Selina is a much better fit for Brucie."
So someone who kills because they do it with good intention makes it a good action? No."
