Project - Volumes To Work On

Most of these list items are for volumes missing issues and others are for misc. volumes that need work.

I'll keep an eye out for covers but if anyone else can fill these gaps please do !!!

If you fill a gap please leave a comment so I can remove it from my list.

if you can't find cover images that are at least 400 pixels wide please skip it and leave it for someone else to add (unless it is manga or a foreign comic then try for 300 pixels wide or bigger).

Usually, I'm an IT/web designer that works from home and only have to work about eight weeks a year so I don't have to go out much but I still do when I feel like it.

Oh, you're a fan of Sket Dance. Small world, I'm a Sket Dance Wikia admin. I'm going to add the volumes for you. I just need to figure out Comic Vine's wiki buttons for a sec.

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: not actually a fan I just add everything I can find :P

@pikahyper:

Oh, my bad. I haven't seen a lot of fans of the series. I got a bit excited when I saw it on your list.

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: it just drives me nuts whenever I find a series with gaps so I add it to the list and when I need a break from my bigger projects I switch over to this list. Sometimes when I'm adding series too I can't find all the volume covers so I add it to the list so I don't forget to come back and look again, I have higher standards then most editors so I'm not ok with just adding thumbnails just so the issue/volume gets added, I'd rather wait until I find a bigger image so I can add it right.

@takashichea: oh and I probably would like Sket Dance, it sounds like something I would read but right now I'm too busy to start new series, gotta finish all the ones I'm reading right now :D

@pikahyper:

It's pretty tough to find HI RES. I'm at school, so I don't have AZID where I can download HI RES from Amazon's Japanese website.

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: not that hard for me most of the time, I've got some awesome sources :D my average cover is over 3000px wide :P

@pikahyper:

Oh, that's way better than the covers I have been uploading. I couldn't find a bigger cover for vol. 18, 318 x 500 which is highest I can find right now.

I'll try again later.

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: it's all good, I'll find replacements, I have to replace your vol. 17 cover anyways, the volume story title is photoshopped to English :)

@pikahyper:

Sket Dance is a good comedic, slice of life series that is about a trio of students whose club called the Sket Dan helps other students.

They stand for

  • S - Support
  • K - Kindness
  • E - Encouragement
  • T - Troubleshooting

Their problems stem from things such as helping others with personal problems, solving crime, and lots of stuff. With the gags focusing on the quirkiness of students and their requests, there are some serious moments especially with the origin story of the three main characters. I'll leave it at that point.

If you're into an episodic manga series full of gags, school life, and some drama, you should give it a try.

For the covers for Sket Dance, I'm stopping at 18 since most of the covers are smaller than 300 x 400 px.

Congrats on your hard work! I haven't seen a beast on the wiki pages in a while. I hope to reach the top wiki editor in AV like you did at Comic Vine.

@takashichea: I'll probably check it out next year, I need to finish/catch up on Negima, Inubaka, Real, MPD Psycho and Gantz once I finish the work project I'm doing now which I will also be getting back to right now :D

@takashichea: oh and good luck catching up to FoxxFireArt on AV, you'll have to contend with me over there next year, I've got hundreds of thousands of points worth of data to add there, I can be in the top ten in a couple months :P

@pikahyper:

I don't know the history of this site, but I recalled Fesak was the top contender back then. Seeing you and Aztek_the_Lost_ having around 100 million points makes me wonder who reached 100 million first in this site?

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: aztek beat me unfortunately by just under two months, I was aiming to do it first and was averaging 6k per day but then I got caught up in family problems and slowed way down for like three months so he got it first.

@pikahyper:

Thanks, sorry for keeping from your work.

I have one more question. It's about Shaman King. I added the Shaman King Kazen-Ban on Anime Vice. I'm a long time Shaman King wiki editor. Do I add it to Comic Vine?

Edit:

I'm following your wiki style for the individual wiki volumes pages:

  • Proper Japanese Title: Romaji Kanji
  • Plot (if we have time)
  • Chapter Titles
Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: sure go for it, one thing we do different here then AV is that each edition gets its own volume page, we don't mix them here, especially if they are different language editions. We don't change the title though (unless the publisher did), for the kazen-ban you would just create a new Shaman King volume and in the description describe the series and what edition it is and how it is the third Shaman king edition and that it condenses the original series down to 16 volumes with a different ending.

Ultimately there will be three Japanese Shaman King volumes (for the main series), the original 32 volume manga, the original kazenban 27 volume manga and your 16 volume kazenban budget remix edition (which is what you have on AV), I don't have time now to do the cover research but if you do add it make sure you use the correct covers for the right edition (I'm a huge stickler for using the correct covers).

@pikahyper:

I found 27 volumes that match the ones I had on Anime Vice

I didn't know Kazenban had two different format. I'll have to PM Daniel to change the name for wiki page at AV to Kazenban Budget Remix (Shaman King Remix Tracks).

Though, the covers I got were from Shaman King Wikia which states it was the 27 volume series.

Posted by pikahyper

@takashichea: that's the most confusing part about Japanese manga, it is pretty common to have at least two editions, some up to four, the kazenban and bunko editions are usually condensed so that can really screw up chapter listings and makes it even more important to confirm American chapter titles cause most of the time American editions keep the same amount of chapters as the original Japanese volumes.
