The subtitles were why they were added separate, generally that is how we handle collections, not usually how we handle manga but it was a different time back then.
@pikahyper: What's the reason for that? I thought the subtitles indicated that they should be split as separate volumes (re: previous thread)
It was a while ago and I don't remember, either the earlier editions had different indicias or the publisher/distributor was soliciting them as a series, BB might remember.
A now retired editor and myself talked about updating 2000 AD and Megazine for arcs years ago but ultimately it was too large a project so we never did it. Deciding on a naming convention isn't easy either.
@alehel: it's fine, I only enforced that before I retired, now if we didn't let new editors add new releases a lot wouldn't end up getting added anymore so we don't have much choice but to let new editors do everything.
I am aware of that. It just seems that newer editors shouldn’t be adding new issues if they're going to be abandoned once they’ve been added. I’m not going to name and shame any users in particular, but last week their were a bunch of TPBs that were added and left blank or just had associations and no dates.
Adding dates is an integral part of keeping the wiki accurate as that information doesn’t always stick around whereas the associations do. On top of that I imagine the sites busy days are Wednesday and Thursday as people are looking to see what’s released that week.
To understand that you have to understand who most of my replacements are: pirates and scrapper users, they need the issues to exist so they can be scrapped and added to their collection software, beyond that most don't care so they add the skeletons and then the editors that have actually been here editing for years are the ones actually filling the associations, solicits and dates. Occasionally Hoobson will add the new releases and do a good job but they are usually too busy adding foreign stuff as that seems to be their main focus. Also in all honesty our date integrity isn't great anymore, most editors now only care about digital so if a print edition release isn't the same as the digital it'll always have the digital date, just like they focus on digital covers, they use what they know and have access too.
Might be worth keeping an eye on new issue submissions on Wednesday as it seems issues are being added but no release date which means newer wiki editors aren't adding all the correct information. Looks like stuff got missed from the last couple of weeks that were added by new users then got abandoned. No point having a New Comics tab if nothing if being added to it.
I'll go back and fix it when I get a chance.
That's how most of the new releases get added, I've been going over all the new releases since I retired and adding essential data and retail print covers on a two to four week delay but my account is glitched, I haven't been able to edit in weeks so I've just been getting further and further behind. A lot of editors may have combined to "replace" me but they still don't do as much and it's not like we can make them add anything they don't want to :/
