The background about Ares killing the other gods seems kind of unnecessary. It kind of neuters supporting characters/goddesses making an appearance and I prefer the Girl Power of having Artemis, Hera, and Aphrodite involved with the Amazons.
Any body been reading this series? is it any good?
It's actually pretty good. The artwork may make you think that they are not taking this series seriously, but the story is good, the characters get some pretty good development, and the series takes a few left turns. Give it a try, for sure.
I don't understand this storyline lol, why is Thor acting like he's nothing without the Hammer? Even without the Hammer he's still got strength and durability that rivals The Hulk.
This definitely makes even less sense given that he has always had above-average physical stats for an Asgardian who have heightened physical abilities compared to a normal human being.
In regards to that great picture of Viv, I always appreciated that artists drew her in age appropriate outfits for the most part. Most artists tend to show teenaged girls revealing a lot more skin than usual.
Anyway, this was a great series. I am crossing fingers that they all get back together since I am not a fan of how often families are deconstructed in these things.
I like a lot of these covers! While I do get a creepy "perpetual war" vibe from viewing them altogether and reading the descriptions, what are you gonna do! They're superhero comics!
Anyway, Superwoman looks good, the DC Comics Bombshells artwork looks really cool, and I really like the Supergirl skirt - for some reason, I prefer skirts over bathing suits...probably because I like Sailormoon. And I really like the Scooby Apocalypse idea - Fred's never looked better!
Some random thoughts:
Why is Barack Obama or a lookalike on the cover of "Harley's Little Black Book"
New Superman is too derivative - I think they could have defrayed this by changing the designs of New Batman and New Wonder Woman, but as it is now, they are both kinda bland.
@2cool4fun: Just lose Jennifer Law- I mean, Mystique. She's garbage.
I agree with this sentiment. I can't stand whiny/heroic Mystique. I prefer her as a badass anti-villain who's commitment to the cause makes Magneto seem soft by comparison. Her origin as Xavier's stepsister/bff killed any love I could've had for this character.
I don't even mind J.Law usually...but as Mystique, this was a huge misfire for me.
