Wizard Ultimate Team - My Marvel Villains Version

Much like the heroes list I made a team of Marvel supervillains based on the ultimate team list from an old issue of Wizard, picking members based on various roles needed for a successful team. Unlike my slightly jokey heroes list with the villains I took a more serious approach and, if these guys did ever team up, I could easily imagine them taking over the world, or at least causing mass devastation before being stopped by some nigh-omnipotent force.

List items

  • Who better to lead a team of villains than Apocalypse? He was made immortal thanks to the Celestial's so he is guaranteed to keep coming back and leading the team, or future incarnations, until they reach their goals, presumably something to do with Survival of the fittest since that's Apocalypse's thing.

  • For 'Raw Power' no one in the villain circuit could top Juggernaut in my opinion. Sure he has dabbled in being a hero but he always gets drawn back to the dark side so I can see him joining the bad guys if he thought they would be coming out tops. Thanks to his unstoppable force he could cause major problems for pretty much anyone bar Hulk or Sentry but then again Juggs wouldn't be working alone...

  • Much like my argument for a robot in the 'Tech' role in the Marvel Hero list I chose Ultron as he can create and link up with anything technological making him far superior to a human who needs to hack in to get the job done. If he has his adamantium casing he is equally powerful in physical terms as he would be building and deploying an army to help the group overthrow the hero community.

  • Man no bad guy can match scariness for the 'Mentalist' role than Shadow King. Back in the day he was so powerful on Professor Xavier could stop him, and although more powerful psychics have showed up I don't think things would be much different now. When he isn't using his amazing abilities to hive mind the team he could easily possess various superheroes to the dark side, especially if they are somewhat distracted/weakly defended from mental attacks.

  • OK I admit Magneto is probably the most displaced member of the team, he isn't exactly would you would call a 'true' villain but much like Juggernaut if push came to shove and it was join and succeed or refuse and die I could see Magneto agreeing to being the teams 'Defense' guy using his metallic abilities to form barriers and bases or throwing spikes of metal into unsuspecting enemies. Just make sure to draft a deal to help Mutants and he's your man Apocalypse, you can always back stab him later over this! XD

  • While 'Stealth' isn't exactly Blackheart's strong point I think he could easily do some porting for the group and hiding in the shadows to get tasks done if it meant he could cause some chaos.

  • Finally filling the role of 'Magic User' is Dormammu. He could easily cloak some of the teams misdeeds before releasing unrelenting waves of maelstrom to magic based heroes and those immune to physical confrontations.
