@Billy Batson: AvX is one of the best things I've read yet. Very fun. I've only just started with avengers things though, I'm in a similar boat to this guy, only I never really was on the fence with Marvel; I always loved some of their heroes, but never read comics from either DC or Marvel, and find Marvel harder to jump into.

What would you recommend for an Avengers/Spiderman/Iron Man nut?

Read Daredevil,it has great story after great story.Don't read Mark Waid's Daredevil.Start with Kevin Smith's Guardian Devil

Also if you maybe want to dig into the earlier days of Marvel's heroes like Captain America, Spiderman, Avengers and what not, I would check out Marvel Masterworks. Basically it is a graphic novel where some of the early stories of those character from the 1940s to the 1970s maybe and it would include the first appearance of the Avengers, Captain America, Spiderman, the version of the X-men you like as well as the X-men's first issue.

@Manwhohaseverything: FF will be rebooted in this decade, Im pretty sure. They probably wont make a sequel so, Fox will either reboot FF in the next years so they wont lose their movie rights, or they dont, and lose the rights to Marvel, who would right away do a great FF movie (atleast that's what Id expect them to do)

Get Waid's run on Daredevil and Slott's run on Amazing Spider-Man. Really, those are the only Marvel titles I will pick up except for maybe the regular Avengers.

Shadowland is trash. Don't bother and this is coming from a huge Daredevil fan. Pretend it doesn't exist.

For Black Panther, definitely read Christopher Priest's and David Liss's run.

Hard to know what to say to read to sum up everything that's led to the current moment. I'd say skip it and just dive in. Comics history changes often enough that it's not necessarily worth knowing what happened before, unless it has to do with the characters you like. But if anything, I guess just read AvX because it's what will be driving what's going on for the near future. I think almost everyone would agree that you can avoid Fear Itself from last year.

For monthly comics, I'd recommend Journey into Mystery, Daredevil, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Amazing Spider-Man.

I always recommend Uncanny X-force, so give that a try.

@Manwhohaseverything: Actually the Marvel logo appears in all Marvel related character films (like Fantastic Four, which was not made by Marvel, but the logo still shows up). But only the latest Punisher, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, Captain America, Incredible Hulk and Avengers) were made by Marvel itself. The others were made by Sony or Fox

@Phantim555: Check out Thor seriously ! Decide for yourself , is he a god trapped in a mans body or a man trapped in a gods body. Thor is one of the most honarable heroes in Marvel (616) . There are so many title to read in Marvel Ilike something about them all you have to start with a few and see where they take you. Perhaps the Avengers, Defenders,Uncanny and Astonishing Xmen, or the Fantastic Four,and let the characters grow on you. Basicallly you'll get a feel about the role these characters play in these titles, from there you can grab the individual title of the character you like. I think thats the best way to go. For kicks you can go out and purchase Marvel vs Dc just to see how the characters from Dc and Marvel view each other and theres also a JLA/Avengers crossover, as well as a GL(kyle Rayner)/Silver Surfer crossover search ebay for a good price for the Dc /Marvel titles if you can't find them at the local retailer.

Not really as big a deal as you're making it and the information is easily accessible. Marvel Filmslists all the movies, production studios, and distributors.

Ditto on the Daredevil rec. I also enjoy Wolverine and The X-Men, but this month's issue was rather weak.

@jinxuandi: Again I'll probably always read DC more just because my top favorite characters are there. Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Tim Drake (who's my number 1) I love them all but like you said I also want to expand my knowledge base as well and see what interesting stories Marvel can offer. You all have been great by the way I made a wish list on Amazon specifically for these books and they all seem really good and I'm excited to read them soon.

Don't listen to trolls, there's no shame in reading books from both major publishers. I consider myself a Marvel fan at heart but I buy more DC books because, well, they're better right now.

@Manwhohaseverything: Not trying to be an ass but get your facts straight before bashing something.

Gambit1024 has a GREAT list. As does BB. My take is to just dive in to the list and extend from there. You'll find that you'll gravitate to particular writers maybe even more so than to characters.

So once you start digging someone's writing or art, it's a good bet that their other work will interest you as well.

@Manwhohaseverything: aside from the fact that only 8 of those movies were made by Marvel - the others were made by other movie companies. And from those 8, only Punisher and the first Hulk could be called "flops".

Brubaker Daredevil may catch your interest. It's my favorite run of Daredevil so far. Albeit you'll probably need to read in trades.
 
Jonathan Hickman Fantastic Four is also a must. It's quite a bevy but its worth it. Marvel Cosmic (Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy) is also VERY good.
 
Amazing Spiderman is getting really good from what i hear and Captain America started fresh a couple of issues ago.

While I won't tell you to NOT get "Amazing Spider-man", as many folks seem to like it. However, I actually think Slott is a HORRIBLE writer. Bad as I've EVER read. I get Amazing Spider-man out of "Brand Loyalty," but I am currently not enjoying the book at all. Again, you may love his stuff, and opinions vary wildly on just about every comic, but if you dislike Slott's writing as much as I do, I can at least say I warned you. Not to mention Ramos is not a very good artist.

but seriously, I think you should definitely pick up some civil war and some classic books that you find at charity shops.

1. Scarlet Spider

Best Marvel title going at the moment it centers around Spider-man's clone except this guy isn't much like Spider-man he's got a lot less morals and doesn't mind killing. Christopher Yost and Ryan Stegman have done a great job on it so far. As its only on its 5th issue its a good jumping point.

2. DareDevil

Mark Waid's run was pretty good

3. Spider-man

Anything from issue 546 Dan Slott's work has been top notch!

Thanks I'll definitely look into it. And don't get me wrong I'll still always love DC and I'm not leaving them especially not now but I just want to expand my love for comics basically. I've never loved nor hated Marvel but the Avengers movie just made me want to see how interesting Marvel can actually be and I'm ready to give them that chance.

Well, when you do, you'll discover DC still has better comic writers. Don't be discouraged by DC's movie efforts. Marvel simply has made more "monthly comic book hero" movies, so they have more good ones to stand-out, and folks often dismiss their many failures. Since about 2000, DC has made 6 super-hero movies, (I'm counting TDKR) 3 Batman's, 1 Superman, 1 GL and if you wanna count Jonah Hex..we have 6. The rest have been graphic novel adaptations (V for Vendetta, History of Violence, Red, and so on) Marvel has made...well..3 Spider-mans, 3 X-men, 2 Punishers, 2 Iron men, Captain America, Thor, Daredevil, Elektra, 2 Hulks, 2 FF's and The Avengers. That's 18! By the time DC has made 18 movies, I'm sure they'll have 9 good ones and 9 crappy ones also. 
 
Now that my movie rant is over..You MUST read Mark Waid's Daredevil. It's one of the top books from either company right now. Right up there with Scott Snyder's Batman.
