Forcing the issue? 0

It's always difficult to give a decent review of the first issue in a mini-series because of the built-up expectations coupled with trying to envision how the rest of the series is going to go at the same time.  That being said, "Carnage" has had a tumultuous past even before the release of the first issue.  Originally titled "Spider-Man / Iron Man", the reintroduction of the Carnage character led to an entire series title change, possibly to its detriment.  It's obvious from the cover, as well ...

Reality-Hopping Calvin and Hobbes! 0

If you enjoy Calvin and Hobbes, or the adventures of the multi-colored Hulks you often find at the end of recent comic books, you'll probably enjoy this book.  One of many in the series of Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius, "Sons of Geniuses" is a comic-strip-esque delve into a few young Franklin Richards' in alternate universes.  From a Superman to a chimp to a butler, we see Franklin as we've never seen him before.  If the Son of a Genius universe had a 'What If?' section, it would be this bo...

Do you like space wars? 0

So it would seem that the Invincible series is not one you can put down for a bit and easily pick it back up...  The last I saw of these characters, Invincible barely overcame the invasion of his alternate selves and thought he had killed Conquest, who was actually alive elsewhere.  This book is in the midst of inter-galactic war between the Viltrumites and the Coalition of Planets.  There were a LOT of characters I didn't know, and some I hardly recognized.  Anyway, the story was pretty good, a...

Three years later... 0

So I'm a bit late to the party, but figured I'd give my two cents about a comic I've heard about in whispers across comic shops.  Keep in mind I haven't read any other issues beyond this one, so my familiarity with the characters is limited and I may not be giving the series a fair shot based on one first issue.  That said, I expected more than what I got.  Umbrella Academy has a cool name, a cool logo, and what seems to be a dark and ominous start.  A group of kids were all born at the same tim...

Another Grand Slam 0

As a jaded old comic fan with two kids in diapers, my money rarely goes to new comics these days.  With price increases, over-production, and less money in my pocket than ever, it's truly rare that a new comic comes along with enough awesome sauce to cause me to pull the change out of the couch cushions.  This is one of those books.    I actually read a friend's copy of this book and liked it so much that I went to the store and bought it.  I felt the book was so well done, it deserved to be pai...

Connect the books, la-la-la-la... 0

So this Avengers series is one of three books I'm now buying monthly. (Thank you, new babies in the house).  I was extremely excited to see where this story was going as of issue 4, and felt like this issue wasn't nearly as much of a payoff as the others.  Sometimes during a story arc, a comic will obviously move the story along, but still not have much happen in it.  This is one of those.  It adequately connects the previous book to the next, and fills in some questions that were created by pre...
