A Softer Side

Everyone thinks Deadpool is a complete psychopath without a  conscience. Even in the new Uncanny X-Force trailer they call him "Psychotic Merc with a Mouth," Who can argue the Merc with a Mouth part but I don't think he's completely psychotic. I think he's a big sweet heart. He's saved to world about a hand full of times. That and he's loved and lost, Syrn,  Vanessa Carlysle, & Copycat. Anyway I was reading Deadpool and I came across this picture from after he basically saved the entire northern hemisphere from some kind of exploding green crystal.

I don't know seeing Deadpool all curled up like a baby in Sasquatches giant arms, it's just so adorable. That and him trying to cover up his "selfless act of heroism" as just trying to impress the ladies... which there was none of in Antartica.

This image always stuck with me because it shows just how important Blind Al was in Wade Wilson's life, he was the mother figure of his life. He would torture her, and play cruel practical jokes on her (Often taking advantage of her being blind) and yet when he needs to cuddle up in a fetal position and cry like a little baby, she'll come in and act like the mother she is to him.....I Heart Blind Al.... "
Oh my god, I almost cried when I first read that. "
Almost? I did..I'm not ashamed to admit it! Real men cry!

Edit: I totally brought this thread back to life.

I'm with yeah, I miss Blind Al so much. Deadpool just hasn't been the same since she left out of his life.

" Deadpool is my favorite character (If you couldn't tell by my name). Most people like him because he's a badass and pretty hilarious (Which are good reasons to like him). That's what got me into the character, but I also noticed what a tragic character he is too. He started off as kinda a jerk who would do the right thing occasionally. Thanks to Siryn he decided to become a hero. I think that he was doing it for her but later the idea grew on him and he really wanted to be a well known hero the public adores like Captain America or Spiderman. The thing about Deadpool is that he's hit rock bottom so many times, that most of his attempts to be good have ended badly for him, but he never gives up. That image where he's crying in Al's arms always gets me. It shows how badly he wants to be the hero. He still hasn't reached the title of respected hero in the Marvel universe but he hasn't stopped trying (I doubt he'll ever stop trying). "
And this, THIS is why I love the character so much. "
Nice to see someone feels the way Ido. "
Deadpool gets to bad a reputation for being a mercenary, but think about it, he almost always succeeds and he (believe it or not Deadpool haters) he does have morals. For example:

Is just me, or Aunt May is the most powerfull Marvel Character ever, i mean she was the thir human on earth and she is still alive, she gets shot and survive, she stops Galactus and becomes Goldie Oldie, i mean, not even Pre Retcon Beyonder could deal with her.

@Capo_Del_Bandito: It's an outdateed term, yes, I'm familiar with psychological theory as well, but for the purposes of COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION FORUMS, "insanity", as a colloquial term, works fine. Mania is one aspect yes, but his condition would be more a result of post-traumatic stress disorder.

@FadeToBlackBolt: Insanity is an outdated term, used by people who have no idea about anything in terms of mental health. It's more or less like referring to someone with autism as 'retarded' because they were all lumped together at one point.

What you're describing is a loose form of psychotic behavior, or at the very least, sociopathic. The manner in which he acted all throughout almost everyone's run, whether it was purposeful or not, was very easily described as a form of mania.

I didn't mean psychotic, he makes up for the fact that he can't deal with what's going on in his world by looking at it as an absurd construct with malleable morals and standards. He's not bi-polar either.

Also, that's an incredibly rude insinuation.

A lot of Deadpools "insanity" is a facade. He uses it to excuse his despicable behaviour. Same with his humour. It's all a defense mechanism and also to find some kind of acceptance amongst his peers. Deep down, Wade Wilson is a deeply tortured and fractured person... his way of dealing with the tragedy of his life is to laugh at it.

Actually i think he knows he is in a comic, for a bizarre reason, i mean, he is more sane that most of Marvels today.

OhHiItsGwen Sent me this! GAH! I don't know I just saw a forum topic about how much people hate Deaadpool because he's only a Psychotic Jokester with no real character. Wish people would give something a chance or at least READ A DAMN VOLUME before they jump to such hate. God, I hope they aren't basing that shiz off of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Too bad Al doesn't get much exposure these days, i missed those days, when Wade wasn't just an incompetent clown, but a tragic clown, using jokes and supposed craziness to cover his insecurities

@DeathpooltheT1000:  Aunt May needs to die...

I'm sorry but they could have done so much when Aunt May was dieing before Brand New Day. Can you imagine Spider-man going ballistic and killing the super villain who killed her, out of rage. We'd get a more darker Spider-man for a while then Mary Jane would comfort him and he would eventually go back to being the Spider-Man we know and love. It's a perfect step to further evolve Spider-man as a character, but nope let's just do a lame story and erase all the evolution he went through for the past couple of years. LAME!!!!
