A lot of Deadpools "insanity" is a facade. He uses it to excuse his despicable behaviour. Same with his humour. It's all a defense mechanism and also to find some kind of acceptance amongst his peers. Deep down, Wade Wilson is a deeply tortured and fractured person... his way of dealing with the tragedy of his life is to laugh at it.

Wade's insanity is due to his inability to deal with HIS reality. That's why he can break the fourth wall.
