My point is that if someone refuses a donation for ANY reason then their wishes should be respected! As I noted in my OP, a donation is a form of gift- and by definition a gift can be refused(I once sent my favourite film star Drew Barrymore a painting of herself(which she graciously accepted; I got an autographed photo in return) but what if she refused it for any reason? It is true that social convention dictates that we accept gifts but it is NOT a law!)

So people are DUTY BOUND to accept donations or gifts from sources they find morally dubious or reprehensible? Should we accept donations from terrorists(Islamic State/Al Qaeda) or organized crime groups???

I have had offers of gifts (mainly paintings) refused and I have NOT taken offence!

So why should Melania Trump?

My guess is that in a knock down drag out fight between Ursa Major and The Grizzly the former would win- Grizzly is just a guy in a bear suit whereas Ursa Major is the"real deal"!

To answer the questions of some posters- NO I am NOT married, or in a relationship and I have no children of my own(but I DO have two nieces- now thankfully grown up-of my own). I certainly would NOT like a man to put their hands up their skirts or dresses and "cop a feel", but I DO think Taylor Swift IS overreacting- why couldn't she just slap him upside the head?!

My point is that there an unmistakable element of "moral panic" over BOTH issues( the alleged forcing of National Trust guides to wear "Gay Pride" badges to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act presumably against their personal moral-religious or otherwise- convictions and the the whole business of acid attacks) and there is also an element of hypocrisy here; if people should not be forced to wear Gay Pride badges if it goes against their personal moral views then why should they be coerced into wearing poppies in the run up to Remembrance Sunday? As I noted in my OP, this is the so-called "silly season" when even the most inconsequential story is eagerly all but flogged to death simply because Parliament and the courts are in summer recess(obviously being splashed by acid is hardly an inconsequential matter-people have been scarred for life as a result of such attacks- but I for one think that there is an element of "moral panic" over this issue- not unlike the ones over so-called "video nasties" back in the 1980s!

PS has anybody noticed that the very papers- Daily and Sunday Express, Mail/Mail on Sunday and Daily/Sunday Telegraph huffing and puffing over this matter are also the keenest to insist that EVERYONE should wear a poppy in the run up to Remembrance Sunday???

Well let's see- It CAN'T be Adamantium- which is phenomenally expensive and anyway is NOT available on the open market(Adamantium is so expensive that even the US federal government can only produce relatively small amounts- trying to do in bulk would bankrupt Uncle Sam). Nor could be it vibranium? Although no authority on metallurgy, I suspect it is a sort of titanium/vanadium alloy= pretty tough but NOT indestructibel!

Has ANYBODY noticed that Donald Trump hasn't appeared in ANY Marvel title

-unlike even comparatively unpopular or controversial Presidents such as LBJ or Richard Nixon???

In a recent story about the Night Nurse and Dr Strange I read, she makes the point that although Strange is the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, he doesn;t seem to know her real name(or at least he never uses it in her presence). I have a theory that Strange(who after all is omniscient or at least in touch with entities that are omniscient) purposely avoids using her real name in case he is captured by supervillains and in order to protect not just her identity(professional courtesy perhaps) and the service she and others provide to Manhattan's super hero community(after all if a hero/heroine is shot or otherwise injured, state law mandates that such injuries be reported to police and other law enforcement agencies, at least some of whose members are in the pay of hoods such as the Kingpin, and maybe even the likes of the Red Skull, Magneto and Dr.Doom!

Although Dawn's politics are not alluded to for the most part- I would suspect that with a title like "Dove" she is at least tacitly liberal, much like Wonder Woman's as opposed to the more aggressive (and implicitly conservative) "Hawk". So what do you think?
