Yawn- yet ANOTHER gun related mass slaughter in the US!

Another gun related mass slaughter in the US- what is yawnworthy is NOT the number of people killed but the reaction of the NRA( National Rifle Association)- after a week's discreet silence it will either repeat mantra like its claim that" the only way to tackle a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy also armed with a gun" or decry the media for"politicizing a tragedy"( as if the Right was averse to so doing- remember the late Jerry Falwell who blamed 9/11 NOT on Al Qaeda but "feminists, socialists and abortionists"?)

True,as I have pointed out until I am literally blue in the face on this blog, crazies (like the poor,) will always be with us( pace Anders Behring Breivik in Norway, Michael Ryan, Raoul Moat and Don Bird in the UK), these are relative rarities outside the US, whereas somebody "going postal" ( as the American prhase puts it) with a gun seems to occur every few months or even weeks.

Not content with opposing even the most minimal of gun control measures, the NRA and its political frontmen are set to also oppose the UN Conventional Arms Trade Treaty( which, shades of the Law Of The Sea Treaty and International Criminal Court, they claim "infringes on American sovereignty)_ go figure!

Gotta love how people dying is 'yawnworthy'.

And, like usual, you make almost no sense. And don't source or back up your claims. A+.

"Yawn" ? Yeah, we should ask them to do a musical number next time.

What I noted was "yawnworthy" was NOT the deaths but the cliched response from the "gun lobby"( if it's not forthcoming it soon will be)!

That's why. (Just posting for clarification for those who need it).

...Yawn...really, *sigh* couldn't titled it better ?

Jeez guys, read the the post and give Paracelsus a break.

I read the post. The NRA hasn't actually said anything pertaining to the shooting, so there's nothing to yawn at. And the title is still completely inappropriate.

Should I feel bad that this made be laugh out loud?

This title seems a bit unfitting

The title will cause more trouble than its worth.

When will Obama stop brainwashing people with mental health problems to support his war against america.

What is truly yawn worthy is all the disinformation about this new shooting, I've seen it on just about every major news outlet and some of the bigger talking heads that the shooter used an AR-15 assault rifle and Sen Feinstein her self jumped in, again, claiming the shooter used a military style rifle. Of course that's not what the FBI has reported...

It was not clear how Alexis hid the shotgun that was his primary weapon, Comey said. Video shows Alexis entering a bathroom on the building's fourth floor with a bag and then emerging with the shotgun, but investigators do not know if the shotgun was disassembled, he said.

"The shotgun was cut down at both ends," Comey said. "The stock was sawed off, and the barrel was sawed off a little bit."

Alexis also fired a semi-automatic pistol that he took from a security guard he shot, Comey said. Alexis died after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers, about 30 minutes after he began shooting.

The above quote came from a Reuters report on the shooting from a briefing held by FBI Director James Comey. I am sure if he had used an AR or AK of any variety he would have mentioned it.

In reply to some of my critics(who may question the right of a "foreigner" to comment unfavourably on America's gun laws), I have to put it crudely, noted a certain tendency on the part of American commentators to "piss down" on other societies for their faults and follies whilst regarding any corresponding criticism by outside observers as the equivalent of breaking wind at the bishop's garden party- just not done( full disclosure: I was kicked off two Catholic websites for this reason)!

Looks as if Uncle Sam can dish it out but sure as hell can't take it!

'Nuff said!

@paracelsus: No one cares if your a foreigner, and I doubt any of them knew it. They were criticizing this thread as misinformed, the title inappropriate, and you pointless.

@irishx: why do people always try to say the minority of good things about guns outweigh the vast majority of the bad? For every 1 incident of someone using a gun to protect themselves there are like 5 where it was someone useing a gun to hurt someone. Thats like saying a serial killer gets a pass for the 5 innocent people he killed because he takes out 1 bad guy.

Edited by IrishX

@joshmightbe:

No, it's more like you saying to take away the gun that protected that family because there's a bunch of scum out there who use guns for bad things. It just doesn't make any sense.

Really though, what would you say to that family? That they shouldn't have had that gun because a bunch of violent criminals keep killing each other in Chicago?

"Sorry, I know your family just got beat to death with crowbars but guns are bad mmmkay?"

We wouldn't need guns to protect ourselves if we didn't have guns.

Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

I don't see how a horrific tragedy is "yawnworthy" as you say it is. This thread is pointless to begin with.
