Ireland votes for gay marriage in referendum

Defying the racist/sectarian trope of "priest ridden Paddies" so beloved of Ulster Protestants and certain lazy (if not bigoted) British newspaper pundits, the people of the Republic of Ireland voted on Friday in a landslide to allow same sex marriage- much to the evident annoyance if not dismay of the once overwhelmingly powerful Roman Catholic Church( actually the idea of Ireland where to quote the late James Joyce as"my one true love, where Christ and Caesar are hand in glove!" ids at least a decade out of date; things have definitely changed in the days when Irish ministers and citizens took care"not to bring down on their heads the belt of a crozier!"- pace the 1951 "Mother And Baby scheme").
so the question is for both victors and defeated:where do we go from here?
