First off... WHERE THE HECK IS NIGHTCRAWLER!!!!!! And that little AoA version on the bottom doesn't count...

Ok... second thing is that X-Factor is missing (PAD's version)

Also, I see Anole and Rockslide in the background of those Wolverine and the X-Men brats, but they should have been front and center with X-23, Hellion, Surge, Mercury, Dust, etc...

No Polaris, Colossus, Cable... This wasn't thought out all that well.

If I were to conduct a 50th anniversary poster with 12 sections (covers) I would have at first started off with stages of the X-Men, the O5, then the All New, then Blue/Gold. Next I would have shown the splinter teams, the original New Mutants, Gen X, and Excalibur. Then I would show the teams that had the most significance like the New X-Men students, PAD's X-Factor, and Remender's X-Force. Last I would have had Cable/ Hope/ Bishop, Wolverine and crew vs Cyclops and crew, and the women team of X-Men.

If the poster was structured like how I mentioned... then I would have no complaints.

This past winter break I was playing lots of card games (went to a cabin in the mountains for two weeks), and it got me thinking about Gambit and his signature choice of "weapon": his cards. I wonder how many deck of cards Gambit has gone through in his life? Or for that matter does he buy any sort of cards or are they a specific brand? Just a random thought...

I actually REALLY liked Remender's Uncanny X-Force! But when that ended in favor for this Uncanny Avengers crap (no offense fans) I was stunned. The concept was half interesting half annoying... and now Rogue is dead, away from her X-Men family, whether it's temporarily or not, her death, to me, is meaningless.

@fodigg: I think the amount of 70s costumes that the characters will be sporting are enough for me. Plus the other part of the film is a dystopian future... if I were them, I wouldn't want to wear a brightly colored costume. Also, I still haven't seen any photos of the 70s X-Men's costumes yet. Maybe they'll look a tad different than the uniformed-look in the first movie.

I know comicbook-wise Storm is going through the mohawk-phase again but does she have to have this spiky pixie-cut!? It's very unappealing to her as a character. Storm is supposed to be a beautiful African goddess... Halle Berry does not look anywhere near those words!

Storm has had short hair plenty of times.

And Storm has been a 'goddess' 1/10th of the time in her Marvel career. She has had plenty of other versions-- Thief, Queen, Leader, Punk, etc...

Image 1 is post X-Tinction Agenda when Storm and Wolfsbane where shaved bald on Genosha. Image 2 is Storm's look after the X-Men movies declared superhero costumes "lame" and Marvel fell in line. 2 horrible examples, and I'm pretty sure the only 2 "plenty of times" Storm has had short hair.

When people refer to Storm as a "Goddess" it's a term of endearment. They don't mean the literal time she spent as the Goddess of Thunder.

You guys are missing my point... I don't need a refresher on some of her old looks, I already know that, film-wise, besides the first film and maybe the second (the third was pushing it), Storm hasn't come off as a strong character like she has in the comics. This is my opinion and observation. Partly in her design and appearance and partly in her characterization of her by Halle Berry.

I never read of the books she was in (Exiles? Excalibur?), so I don't know much about her, to be fair.

But she never really interested me in the X-men comics she was in, so, yeah, the others all interest me more.

Then I suggest so homework then... she's an awesome character with tons of potential.

So what should I read, Exiles? or New Excalibur? I have to admit, neither of those books had any appeal for me.. which I guess is why I know next to nothing about her.

But the idea of reading books I'm not interested in to gain an appreciation for a derivative homage character from an alternate dimension (that's her deal, right? Nightcrawler's daughter from a possible future?).. I dunno; can't see me being in a hurry to get around to that. Was she in anything else?

She's a real run character. She is the daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch (hence her powers) from another dimension. I read the beginning/original Exiles, nothing too deep, but I did read New Excalibur and found the team dysfunctional and different. Start with New Excalibur for a taste... if you really like her character then I suggest going back further into the Exiles.

I know a majority of the X-Men inspired moments comes from the Ultimate Universe but I just don't like how Storm is portrayed in the films. Appearance-wise strikes me first.

I don't know about them being inspired by the Ultimate X-men, in fact, I don't really think there is much at all.

But, yeah, Storm is definitely not as prominent in the films, she does have more of a leadership role in the second movie, but she is not the regal woman-turned-bad-ass like she was in the comics.

I thought their appearances were inspired by the Ultimate X-Men universe?

I think it was the other way round, actually. The X-Men movie came out first in 2000, with black leather outfits because the producers thought blue spandex was too tacky. It inspired the Ultimate X-Men series in 2001, and subsequently Morrison's New X-Men run too.

Oh...
