Star Wars original trilogy vs The new Star Wars trilogy

Which movies you like more ? Do you think the new trilogy ruin Star Wars or it's a lot better than the old one ? What do you think about  midi-chlorians and did they ruin Star Wars ( There's a video about this in screened.com ) or maybe the first explanation of the Force in New Hope is not good ? What do you think about the action , the symbolics , movie effects , act play and the characters ? Choose the trilogy you like more and explain why ?

Thr original trilogy was good but it left a lot of unanswered questionds in how it got to it and lacked lightsaber action. I like the prequel better. Revenge of the Sith was my favorite.

well being that my order of favorites is this

Empire Strikes Back
Revenge of the Sith
New Hope
Attack of the Clones
Return of the Jedi
Phantom Menace

It's kind of hard to say what I liked better. I didn't really hate any of them. I mean compared to the others I liked Phantom Menace the least. But I'd never call it bad.

I like them all and trust me no matter which trilogy is your favorite they all have the same amount of stupidity and flaws.

Raises his hand...

I like all six movies and don't feel that the prequels ruined but instead truthfully answered many questions from Episodes IV, V and VI. The main reason I prefer the prequels more thought is because I love Obi-Wan Kenobi and I enjoyed seeing him in his youth as a Jedi Knight.

The Originals slaughter the Prequel.

The worst of the lot is Revenge of the Sith though. That film failed on so many levels.

Oh, me too, I don't think the prequels are anywhere near as bad as people make out, and Ewan rocked as Obi-Wan. Plus I loved the fight scenes, the fight from Revenge of the Sith was just pure awesome.

I just don't think many people will PREFER the prequels, especially seeing as most people hate them.

Edited to show my order (but I haven't seen RoTJ in a while, I feel like I should put it higher but I don't know if its better than NH)

I would say PM was a little boring. Let's be honest, the majority of the film was political stuff, a pod race in the middle, and then a bunch of stuff at the end. Basically if I ever feel like watching that again, I'd definitely be tempted to skip to the last 20 minutes of the movie. That said, I'm a huge fan of Liam Neeson, so I'd have to stop and watch every scene with him in along the way.

He was an awesome Obi-Wan!!! ^_^

I love the big space battle at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith, that was seriously awesome. Plus we got to see more epic lightsaber fights in the prequels as well than in the original movies.

I can understand the hate for Jar Jar, I mean that's understandable xD But I still don't see why so many people hate them... =/

@War Killer: I think a lot of it comes from people not liking Hayden's acting as Anakin, since he was kinda the main character. The prequels were supposed to show us where Darth Vader came from, and we found out that this total BAMF was actually just a whiney teen in a cool outfit. Personally I liked Hayden's portrayal of Anakin in the final moments of RotS ("YOU TURNED HER AGAINST ME!") but most of the stuff prior to that wasn't too great. Also, the Anakin/Padme thing still weirds me out. She first met him when he was ten years old. TEN.

Oh, which brings me to another point people didn't like: Portman is not a good love interest. This is further reinforced by her appearance in Thor :P

I thought he was a good Anakin, even though I do agree with the whole meeting him when he was ten, but wasn't she also a teenager at the time as well? Honestly after he "grew up" (literally) in AoTC I didn't really mind their realtionship. Plus I like Portman as an actress myself, she was cooler to me than Leia was.

And I agree with her in Thor, honestly Sif was much cooler and she didn't even have that big of role in the movie xD By the way have you seen Thor yet? O_o

@joshmightbe: I liked Jar Jar when I first saw Phantom Menace, but to be fair, I was 8 years old xD

@War Killer: As of Thursday, yup, I have finally seen Thor :P

Loved it, still prefer the Iron Man movies (they have a better love story angle, for one thing) but dammit, Thor was freaking awesome. Heimdall was just... AGH! So awesome! But yeah, the love story part... Kinda obvious that Jane was totally into Thor ("So, is this what you normally look like?" *drool*) but there didn't seem to be any romance between them... Until the ending where all of a sudden they're snogging and Thor is all "I will come back for you!" ... Uh, why?

Did you stay after the credits?

@War Killer: Eeeexactly, which is why I would have thought they'd give a bit more time to their relationship, lol... Surprised how funny it was, too. "This is delicious! ANOTHER!" "I need a horse!"

No duh! And with that... Um... 'Weapon' they showed, should be pretty interesting!

Oh you mean the cosmic cube? xP I'm interested in how they introduce it in Captain America, I have a feeling it won't be as powerful as we've seen in the comic books to be honest.

I like 2 through 5. 1 and 6 have their good points (Maul vs Jinn and Obi, the final battle, and Boba Fett [even though he falls into the sarlacc pit]), BUT... Gungans and Ewoks should have remained a figment of George's imagination.

George Lucas did no favors to star wars.  The old stuff is basically grandfathered in, thats why people like it.  If it was not a classic it would be getting the same reaction.

A New Hope, the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi lacked choreographed fight scenes, yes, but it had characters that were likeable and worth hating. The stories were beautiful, the music gave everything passion and connection to locations, plus they had midgets in suits. Midgets.
With the prequels it was constant inconsistencies and vagueness (concerning the Prophecy), which is why I put in Revenge of the Sith to induce sleep and nightmares. The prequels felt so contrived and emotionless that I sometimes think about walking out of my apartment and beating up an imaginary toll troll, because even he was remastered with CGI backgrounds. I'm thinking about naming him Bar Bar Drinx.
