Digital Coloring process

I'm not going to go into how to prep your work for digital coloring or anything like that. plenty of tutorials online for that if you would like me to point some out I will. I found some good ones that work best and are minimal work and produce a better end result. http://tetsuk0.deviantart.com/art/TUTORIAL-Coloured-Lineart-V5-132211116 This is the first of a series of videos I will post just going through my creative process digitally coloring. I am an amateur not a professional by any means, I'm a viner just like you guys. It just so happens I had a bit more liquid cash to blow and spent it on this.

At about 3:49 I mention something about the selection tool. What I meant to say (sorry it was like 4am) that when selecting an area like I had done to color the background of that area I already had the ladder and rails surrounded by my pen tool path so that area wasn't affected by my coloring. And when I went to color the actual ladder I pressed (CTRL+SHIFT+I : Select Inverse) which will make the selection tool flip and now the ladders and rails are selected and the background is safe from modification. And that's just a neat trick you can use when coloring certain things without having to re-select everything with your pen tool.

@Om1kron: wow is that tablet sweet, that was a smart move getting that on your part.

I was in WTF mode till you started explaining what you where doing but now I'm seeing the method to the madness and it's very cool. Specially when you go hi speed and it's like 'poof'.

Every artist should try this exercise in recording the creative process, it's a great way to peek into the mind as it moves :)

hellz yeah, It also hard to keep steady, I swear artistic skill depletes 30% when using a mouse

I have added all of the videos to the first post guys. There will be one final video, hopefully it doesn't end up being very long. The good part however is that it's being filmed with an actual HD camera now. The reason why I'm not using a screen capture program is due to the fact they only capture your main monitor, the cintiq is a secondary otherwise I would've went that route.

Also this is the guy who makes the music in the videos, the reason why I'm using instrumentals with no lyrics from him is they're not licensed to any partners of you tube so my videos don't randomly get muted or have tons of dumb ass ad's in them.

@Om1kron: these are really awesome man, great way to see things in action. On the screen capturing side, I used to run into the same problem with secondary screens way back when and Camtasia had a feature to specify which screen on the PC side to record.

I'll look into that if I bother doing this again. Kind of tedious imo lol

@Om1kron: yea, making tutorials used to drive me nuts, but that did help a lot cause you could specify a screen, or window, or application, Lots of choices. Plus since version 6 they started including editing tools to make highlights and zooms and other useful stuff if your really wanting to polish it up after recording everything.
