Ohhh! This is interesting... but what is Lola about?

Lola & the 11 Secrets follows the journey of a young girl trying to come to peace with a tragedy in her life. As Lola struggles to let go of her sadness, she seeks solitude in the forest and in a mysterious cemetery. Searching for answers to her questions, she discovers a portal to a strange and beautiful world. A fascinatingly original and beautiful world awaits Lola. A place full of secrets, strange new friends and bitterly twisted enemies. Lola must now overcome her past, face her fears, and find her answers or she will perish.

In the darkness she continues to play.

She pretends to haunt.

She wishes she could stay. @sora_thekey: Hope this answers your question!

@nszerdy: Gah! it sounds so good, yet it doesn't answer my question... What is it about?? :P

@sora_thekey: The story is about Lola's journey to overcome her fears and the loss of her father. I can't give away much more.

Posted by sora_thekey

@nszerdy: Hmmm... Alice in Wonderland type story about a girl who just lost her dad. I'm in!

@Shatterstar: Great! Thank you!

@sora_thekey: : )

@nszerdy: This looks and sounds really interesting. Where can you get copies of the book?

Posted by nszerdy

@feebadger: It's being edited right now--It is done as far as art goes--it's just being looked over for misspelled words and punctuation and after I add a few more pieces of art into the back section of the gallery-(hence this blog post)-then I'm going to send it to print and it will be available on LolaEleven.com. It's been in the works for 4 years. But it was meant as a graphic novel and not individual issues---hence why it has taken so long.

@nszerdy: Are you seeking art of the characters? What specifically are you seeking?

That aside, I love the style very very much. Reminds me of Nightmare Before Christmas meets Richard Sala ( Peculia ) and I love it!

Posted by nszerdy

@Decept-O: First off--thank you for the kind words---secondly--to answer your question--whatever you feel like doing---it can be of Lola, or any of her supporting characters, it can be a scene, landscape of the graveyard, character with a simple background, or if you can tell a story in your picture even better! Seriously don't over-think it---it's just artwork inspired by some part of the entire book and if you need more examples of environments etc--check out the official site under "art from the book" there are about 17 more pages of examples!

Posted by EGoD

Cool, I love the art design, with that said, are you looking for people to draw images with the style you use or interpret them in their own drawing style?

Posted by nszerdy

@EGoD: Thanks! And your own style is fine--different styles and interpretations are most welcome--but if you want to do your own take-off of this style that is fine too! Thanks for asking!

Posted by wildcats25

Wow! now this is interesting.... very tempting.... i think i just might give it a whirl.

Posted by nszerdy

@wildcats25: Great I look forward to it! And thank you!

I'd be interested in knowing more of the legal side of things. How do you submit artwork? If we submit, does that artwork now belong to you and is able to be used in advertising and such? Would our names be listed somewhere with an area for our website or something?

Posted by nszerdy

@Crazy Pan: Hi Crazy Pan, to answer your questions the artwork would be strictly used in the "Gallery section" of the book-(Never as advertising or any other use--just stictly in the book---PERIOD!). It is still your artwork and if you ever want it removed or taken away--that is fine!! Just don't go making a comic featuring Lola etc. Anyone submitting artwork will get credited with their name by the image (or website if preferred) Submit right here on this ComicVine thread for everyone else to see and appreciate! But don't sweat it, I'm not trying to trick anyone here--or make money off of anyone--I'm simply trying to do something nice for people wanting to be published--I had a few extra pages to fill up in my Graphic Novel and so this is what I decided to do. I have plenty of my own artwork I could have placed back there. I hope that lets you know where I am coming from on this and answers all of your questions. Thanks for the question and take care!

Posted by wildcats25

i would definitely do it for the exposure!

Posted by nszerdy

@wildcats25: Looking forward to it!

Posted by lykopis

This looks amazing! This kind of story always gets me, I am already a Lola Fan. Keep us up to date please?

Posted by nszerdy

@lykopis: Thanks, I will keep you up to date. Book 1 has definitely been my passion for the past 4 years. Crazy creepy and dark with whimsical visuals. I've already done about 20 pages worth of work on book 2. (only 2 of those are finished) It was always meant as a 2 book series. But the whole thing has ruled my life for the past 4 years--in that--it is always on my mind. I am constantly re-evaluating Lola's world, making sure all the dots are connected and seeing if I can tie anything else in to make it richer. Anyways--Sorry I went on a tangent there for a bit---but Thanks again!

I very recently created a fanzine type thing called ' Colonels Star Comics '. This is just the kind of thing we do . If you would like to advertise it on our Facebook page , please feel free:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/CS-Comics/396615473769905

It's not a large community (as of yet ) but it's something I've wanted to do since te age of 9

Here are three more donated through Facebook---The top one is by Javier Cruz

the second one is by Ray (RaySeeArt) Richardson

and the third one is by Womanthology artist Kate Carleton!

Bloody scanner doesn`t work, I did finish it though.

Posted by kfhrfdu_89_76k

Can`t...

Posted by nszerdy
Posted by kfhrfdu_89_76k

Don`t feel that bad man! I`ll be able to scan it some day. Maybe in a few days, even. Then I`ll show it to ya.

Posted by kfhrfdu_89_76k

Then again...How soon are you talking about?

The deadline expired, right? Oh well.

Posted by nszerdy

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: It goes to the printers at the end of the kickstarter--which is in roughly 20 days--so if you DO have something I'd love to see it!

Posted by kfhrfdu_89_76k

I shall try my best sir!

Edited by kfhrfdu_89_76k

I know sir. It sucks. Still...I can`t really say that and truly mean it, since it`s still got that "new drawing smell". Uploading the thing was, naturally, more difficult than making it.
