Favorite Live Action Comic Book Movies

All the CBM I've seen in order of how I like them. The list isn't about which movie is better but based on my enjoyment and re-watch ability. There are some movies I watched and refuse to watch again and others that I'm not sure where they belong due to not remembering my thoughts. They will be added if I re-watch them.

Avengers are low.....
And you really liked ASM...

Spidey gets top spot because he's my favorite so he has an advantage already. And I only really enjoyed watching Avengers in theaters once, IMO it doesn't hold up with repeated viewings. I tried watching it recently but I fell asleep.

We totally disagree on that.

1989 Batman should rank above Daredevil and FF. Everyone has their own opinion, I like the list.. even if it is slightly out of order LoL. I like that you chose to leave certain movies off the list (even tho there are a few equally.. uhh.. "good" on here).

Posted by Ninjablade09

@darkseid_prime: Thanks, and ya there are some movies I need to watch again like Superman 2, Watchmen, V for Vendetta. It's been awhile since I've seen Batman '89 so I might rewatch it to see if my opinion changes.

It's not a popular opinion.

Cool list. I really do not like the direction the new DC Comics cinematic universe is going in with Man of Steel and now Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: Thanks! While I didn't really care for Man of Steel, I am intrigued by what they're doing. I find it interesting, but I feel like they are rushing it.

Posted by Riosishere

No problem! I really feel like they are rushing it too. I mean Man of Steel was a film in which alot of people really liked and alot of people didn't. I feel like it's not a god enough base to launch a franchise off of. I think what really bothers me is the casting. I've never seen a film which I felt was this miscast.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I agree, I've never really been against casting in a movie, but I can't get behind some of these choices. I like the way Batman looks and all but as soon as I think of it in movie I go "Oh right, that's Affleck". though I do like what Ben brings to the universe as a whole, because he can bring in some great writers and even direct some stuff if he wants, which I like because I am a fan of his work behind the camera.

Posted by Riosishere

It's so weird for me. Characters I feel are miscast don't usually bother me but I feel almost the entire ensemble is miscast. Off the top of my head I really don't like the Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Lex Luthor, Perry White, Louis Lane and ESPECIALLY WONDER WOMAN casting. If the got Affleck as a director I would be all u for it but I just don't like him all that much as an actor.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I'm fine with Superman, I'm hoping it was just the writing that was holding Cavil back, Amy Adams is not Lois Lane is anyway, Though I did like the writing for Lois. Perry doesn't bother me, and i'm very wary of Affleck. I absolutly hate Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex. Eisenberg has like no qualities of Luthor at all. You'd think with a movie as big as Batman/Superman would be they would really be careful and try the best they could.

Posted by Riosishere

Yeah exactly! Amy Adams is a good actress but in my opinion she looks wayyy older that Clark/ Like the director Snyder did her no justice with the camera angles he chose. Way too old. Gadot as Wonder Woman is a scary thought. Hey lets give what people thik is the most iconic woman comic book part to an "actress". Sure she was good in Fast and Furious but its a totally different film. Nowhere near the acting expereince needed compared to BvS. Jesse Eisenberg is also a good actor but he has kinda a weird voice and deliver's his lines weird.

Edited by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: Definitely, I like Jesse, but he doesn't scream Lex Luthor to me. He's great at the type of characters he plays, the goofy smart one, but Lex? No. I think if Superman Returns did something right it was Kevin Spacey as Lex, that was a perfect casting. Gadot is a very risky choice. I was really hoping for someone like Jamie Alexander for Diana. Too bad she's Sif.

Posted by Riosishere

Me too! I really liked Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville as Lex Luthor. He was really good. Do you watch Arrow? Have you seen the Flash or Constantine pilots yet?

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I don't watch Arrow, but I watched the Flash pilot. Haven't had the chance to watch the Constantine one yet.

Posted by Riosishere

You should definitely watch Arrow. It is really good. The second season really stepped it up! I am super excited for Gotham too!

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: That's what I've been hearing. I guess with school out for the summer I should start watching it. I'm weary of Gotham, but I'll watch it if it's good. I need to watch more TV shows, so many of them.

Posted by Riosishere

Yeah there are a ton of good ones. I think Gotham will be okay and get better over time. Agents of Shield is terrible. Just terrible.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: Yeah I was hoping Agents of Shield would get better but it never did. Shame, it's the closest thing we have to a new Whedon show. Well at least he doing Avengers.

Posted by Riosishere

I think Avengers 2 will be really good. I think one of them will die.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I hope so. I liked the first one in theaters, but after each viewing at home, I started liking it a lot less. Hoping this one has more replay value outside the theater. I don't think anyone will die, I know that's Whedon's thing, but I'm thinking he'll do something different.

Posted by Riosishere

I feel like with Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver somebody has to die to make room. I know directors like Bryan Singer worked well with a big cast in DOFP but it also had time travel so it was like two stories in one. Plus Warmachine and Falcon will be making an appearence, though I doubt it will be a big role but still.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: True. I'm really interested in who is going to make the final move that defeats Ultron, or if it will be a team effort. Based on the supposed first 15 minutes of the movie I'm hoping it's Cap using Thor's Hammer that would be badass. I put it in spoilers because I wasn't sure if you read the description, or didn't want to be spoiled.

Edited by Riosishere

Thanks man I really appreciate that. I did read that but thanks for that. Crazy day today. Brandon Routh is going to appear as The Atom on Arrow

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: No problem, and yeah I read that. Cool, guess I have another reason to watch Arrow now lol. Such a shame Returns was terrible, Routh is a good actor, and while he could have been a better Superman, I thought he was perfect as Clark Kent.

Edited by Riosishere

I really like Brandon Routh. I liked him in Superman and the film didn't get terrible reviews so I don't understand how it really killed his career. I like him better than Cavill. I actually like the Superman costume used in Superman Returns better than in Man of Steel as well. The suit was also used in Smallville so that is really cool too.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I thought the suit looked good too. It's what I imagine a Superman costume with the underwear would look like today, and it didn't feel outdated. I do like the Man of Steel suit a little bit more though.

Posted by Riosishere

For me its too New 52. I don't really like the batsuit all that much. It's okay but I think The Dark Knight one is the best. He can actually tun his neck and looks more military and less cartoon

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I'm fine with it looking New 52, I really like that design personally. I think the new Batsuit looks cool, but I still think the suit from Begins is my favorite, with The Dark Knight a close second. I'm hoping for some color on the new one, like a blue and grey scheme, but I'm not really expecting it.

Posted by Riosishere

I hate hte Begins costume lol. He can't even turn his neck and it looks to cartoon for me haha. Did you like the Sam Raimi Spider-Man costume better or the Andrew Garfield costume better?

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: I liked the first Amazing Spider-Man suit the best, but the more classic one they gave him in the second movie is really neck and neck with it. I like them equally but tend to lean towards one or the other at times. I liked Raimi's Spidey suit, but it didn't really leave an effect on me, I never look at it, and feel like "Wow" like I do the other ones. Though I do think that when I see the black suit. I loved what they did for that, I think it makes more sense that it was his suit dyed black with a couple of differences. The only thing that would have made it better is if it had the classic black Spidey logo. I also liked the way Venom looked in that movie as well.

Edited by Riosishere

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume looks super close to the comics but I really like the costume from the first film with mmore black in it. Venom from the Raimi films looks just like what I would expect from the comics. It loooks really good and how it sticks to the body looks awesome.

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: Yeah, I loved Venom's look in the movie, too bad they kept peeling back on the face to show Eddie.

Posted by Riosishere

i think that part was kind of cool. Harry looked super dumb in that movie as the new goblin. Looked like a regular snowboarder lol

Posted by Ninjablade09

@riosishere: Yeah, I would like to know who okayed that design. That doesn't look anything like a Goblin. All they had to do was make adjustments to Norman's suit.
