I said 6, but I feel like it will be different reading in trade.
Most people I talk to just moan about how certain parts of the phoenix here didn't match up with continuinity, which I am happy too see forgotten for the sake of a better story. It beat Fear Itself at least.
I loved the first two Hulk issues but it's plummeted to 'good' since then. Looking back over arcs I think New Avengers has been the best book, Thor close behind. X-franchise is in good shape post AvX too.
I really enjoy it so I would recommend. At no point did I find it 'incomprehensible'.
I do agree that it is let down by not introducing the characters or fleshing them out, outside the new additions. I think you would enjoy it more if you had a nice bit of reading done that involved the characters.
Emma didn't just give her a taste of her own medicine though. She had the Cuckoos hurt her when Jean had only been ordering people around. That might be justifiable to a point but even when Scott told Emma to stop she kept going. She looks extremely proud of herself for it too.
Emma has already shown her dislike for both Jeans in her dialogue over the past few Uncanny issues. It's natural that giving their history she might be uncomfortable.
