Bring back Marvel Cosmic Now!!!!

Amidst all of the crappy company wide crossovers and reboots (i.e. Suck Itself and DC Heroes Reborn), there is a black hole were something great used to be. The black hole of course is the unaddressed Marvel Cosmic Universe. This was for a brief period the best comics around. We were privy to such great titles as Annihilation, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, etc. The Marvel Cosmic Universe was as diverse and complicated as the Marvel Earth books, with only two titles at a time. What a shame that we don't have this to look forward to every month anymore.

I however am a solutions oriented person and have the answer. Get rid of two unnecessary tie-in or one shot books that we won't buy anyway (i.e. 15-Love, Marvel Zombies Christmas Carol) and give us the cosmic adventures we deserve. Now to make sure these books are quality we need a main plotter. I nominate Keith Giffen for this position. He got the ball rolling with the original Annihilation crossover and I think that's the basis for the whole thing.

Now we need two books and two creative teams. For the books themselves, I of course am going to say GotG and Silver Surfer. For GotG Abnett and Lanning worked well the first time, they just didn't have a steady artist on the book. How about a rotating penciller. Khoi Pham as regular penciller and Dan Panosian as fill in. Solid writing, solid art, Keith Giffen tieing things together...I think it's a winner. Now for Silver Surfer, Marvel got it right the last time they tried it. Greg Pak and Harvey Tolibao killed it the last time. Now we have a viable Cosmic Universe family of Books. A solid Team book or "Cosmic Avengers" and a leading man or character.

Just a thought...or wishful thinking

Feedback welcome

Out of my comfort zone.

I figured I'll try to expand my horizons in the comic book world. I'm an avid Marvel reader with a little inclination to DC titles (mainly Superman and Teen Titans), but I figured I would attempt to read and review some other titles from my perspective. I will start on my next blog post (which is already decided to be Captain Atom: Armageddon), but I'm open to suggestions. Please every suggestion is welcome.

Respect Thanos

Here's something I don't get on this site: It's the eternal debate over Darkseid and Thanos. I love Thanos; but I also love Darkseid (anybody, who even a Superman fanboy has to admit can kick Superman's butt, is alright with me). But here's the dilemma, DC fanboys won't give Thanos any respect. Here's the supposed logic; Darkseid=Silver Surfer>Superman>Thanos. Huh? How does that work. If Darkseid is on par with Silver Surfer, then how is Thanos below Superman? Thanos is greater even than the Surfer in terms of power, even without the Infinity Gauntlet; I have proof below. give the man his respect.

Reverse Logic

I'm having a problem with some of the logic on this site. In the battle threads a lot of people have a kind of logic that bothers me a little. You see, Captain Marvel! is more powerful than Superman because he has the power of the Gods, but Thor isn't yet he is  a God?Same thing for Wonder Woman. Here's the way I see it. Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman are avatars, meaning they were given powers by the Gods, but don't actually have the strength of the Gods. But Thor is an actual God, how is he not more powerful than Captain Marvel or Wonder Woman? And look a little closer, SHAZAM means S  for wisdom of Solomon (not a God), H  for strength of Hercules (again, not a God), A  for stamina of Atlas (not a God, but a Titan. So I'll give you that one), Z  for power of Zeus (the first Actual God), A  for courage of Achilles (not a God), M for speed of Mercury (another God). My tally is two Gods, one Titan, and two demi-gods. Does that make him a God? I'm really just asking, because I can't wrap my head around that logic.

My current favs Marvel edition

Fantastic Four- This book has a history of being "hit or miss" but currently, Jonathan Hickman has made this into an absolute pull for me. It's Sci-Fi to a level that just oozes fun. Future Vals, Natanials, Franklins, past Reeds, Bens, Dooms... It's amazing. I think they need to put "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine" back on the headline. This one is great. And I said nothing about the art.

Guardians of the Galaxy/Nova/Thanos Imperative- Action, action, action...The whole premise of these books is diverting one disaster after the next. Abnett and Lanning know how to do fun books without being too cheesy or over the top. It's a perfect mix of character interplay and excitement. Marvel cosmic hasn't been this good for a while.

Thor- JMS left the book, but it keeps on trucking. Although it lost a little steam since it began this title was almost certain for a decline in quality, but lately it's been different  but still a very good read. Mephisto is next issue, so let's see what happens, I'm very intrigued by this book, I hope it stays solid.

DC edition next... I'm always up for suggestions, so if you got anything you think I should be reading let me know.

A few requests

I'm a HUGE fan of the cosmic stuff. I'm loving GotG and Nova and got really into Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, War of Kings and Realm of Kings. But, I have a few requests that I think would make Marvel cosmic universe better...

First, bring back Keith Giffen. He needs to write something for the cosmic marvel. After all, he did basically create the current Marvel cosmos. I want him on another cosmic title, maybe the Inhumans or Starjammers... but please make that happen.

Second, Tom Raney. I needs me some Tom Raney on a title. I would prefer GotG, but if you can team him up with Keith Giffen then I already bought the first twenty issues.

Third, diversify... I want some of the old-school villains to return. Kubik, Nebula, Terminus, etc... marvel has a truck load of good cosmic characters, we need to see more of them.

I think this could make Marvel cosmos better, what do you think?

Not now

It's harder in today's comic market to judge a comic by it's cover because a lot of the time the cover artist is different from the interior artist. Back in the early 90's when you saw a Todd Mcfarlane or Jim Lee cover you knew the interiors were going to have the same quality and you could judge off of that. Now with so many artists doing covers exclusively you never know when you will buy a gold plated turd.
