Nice! Stadium Comics is the only place I ever get comics and my friend actually made this video for the magazine he works with in Mississauga, Ontario. You guys should check out Stadium's youtube page if you've got the time; they have a weekly video called "Unboxing Wednesday" where they, you guessed it, unbox and give their opinions on all the comics being released for that week. Best of all, they give out prizes and they'll send them to you no matter where you live. Also, as a shameless plug, my friends and I started doing reviews for them in conjunction with a podcast we just started. We review one or two new release books and an older trade ever week in a more laid-back review style. We're trying to make it better, so I'd love to hear some feedback from all of you if you have the time.
The Walking Dead comic books are better served by keeping the cause for the outbreak out of it for now. Obviously, the question will eventually have to be properly served and answered, but that card being played wouldn't make the series any more interesting than it already is.
I've been following along with the trade paperback version and through the 13 volumes I haven't needed that piece of information. Considering the actual timeline hasn't even travelled a full year yet, the characters aren't that desperate for an answer. They just want to continue protecting each other and staying alive. To be quite frank thats all I want out of the series. Y the last man turned a little sour near the end when it was completely about finding a cure.... I really would prefer for that not to happen again.
" I will definitely be looking up some of these titles. I will be putting them on my amazon wish list for Christmas. Y and Planetary sound very interesting to me. I know it has been out only for three issues I would recomend checking out SCARLET. "
I went to a panel with Alex Maleev, who illustrates and Co-Created the concept, and he made that series sound extremely interesting. Good to know it's turned out alright, I'm going to pick up the issues once I'm finally on Christmas break.
I am definitely pleased with what they are doing with the TV series with respect to what the comic books gave us. It takes the characters and gives them almost an alternate reality where they chose what is behind door number 2 instead of door number 1. The same problems and tensions are there (lack of food, Shane and Rick's diminishing friendship, the split of leadership) and seeing what these characters would do given a new setting.
The addition of the CDC is something that I'm really interested in and is making for a real cool finale next week. It's nice to not have any clue where they are going because when most properties are taken from book to screen, the translation never works because they stick to the cemented storyline and take away key information. This series gives all the key info. and expands into new stories, which is not only refreshing for fans, but intriguing to newcomers.
