Can I ask a question, every other fanbase for comic book characters always worry about accuracy of portrayal, why is it only WW fans who seem to want to change her? Are we so used to DC doing the same that we´ve began to approve as well? Wonder Woman now doesn´t have a character any longer to relate to because she´s always being changed, and fans just sit back and let it happen. How about this for a TV show, get a great writer who loves her comics, to take the series that have been most critically praised. i.e. Perrez, Rucka, Simone, and, Azzerrello (if we must) and come up with an "origin story" out of that? Its that simple. Make it along the lines of an Earth One style comic horror adventure for Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman´s classical origin can easily be adapted to modern tastes, dark, gritty, relatable, violent, sexy, youthful and humorous. That is the formula. They´ve done it with Superman, Batman, Green Arrow. They can do it with Wonder Woman. Create a series that takes the best elements of each series and avoids destroying the original mythology of the character we all know and love.

How can Wonder Woman be relatable to younger audiences using her original mythology?

Make her a young girl on an island that is isolated from the world. She is a curious girl, who wants to know what is beyond the shores. She is protected because she is Princess of this island, but in her heart she knows there is more out there than the paradise she´s presented with. She must break free. Oh and she a hard as nails, kick ass super powered warrior, all packaged in a rather appealing looking young girl.

Enter Steve Trevor, a handsome, quick witted, stereotype of the heroic male, with a dark past. Role reversal.

Question 2:

How do we make it dark, violent and gritty?

The women of paradise Island, are protect a dark secret? Below the depths of Paradise Island, hides the gates of Tartarus. One of its most evil inhabitants escapes. Lets call him Ares. In escaping he frees various demonic forces opening pandoras box to the world. Monster, Harpies, Gorgans, evil gods of the underworld spillout into the modern urban world and cause chaos, with only wonder woman standing in their way. etc. Add in some Guillermo Del Toro like graphics on these creatures. That´s the dark, gritty part done.

How to make it sexy, youthful, relevent and humorous?

Well the Amazons as these powerful warrior women and are pretty sexy already. Diana and Steve´s, very heated relationship. Wonder Woman is young and finds herself in the bright lights of the modern world, trying to accustom to Mans Ways, leading to some humorous situations and encounters with her supporting cast. Added to that she remains embued with a heart that seeks peace, and doesn´t understand the destructive ways of man, that the gods and monsters of Tarturus wish to exploit.

I tend to agree, any character can be made relatable, if they have problems and conflicts that are recognizable. I was just tossing a couple ideas out there in favor of an ensemble cast, which might actually bring out Diana's unique characteristics a bit more. Great writing is essential to making any quality show, but it will take the right pitch in order to secure that kind of writing for a show of this type. And I don't see anyone complaining about inaccuracy. I don't really believe in "accuracy" when it comes to comic stories, anyway, since there are always many interpretations of the same character.

I don't think that Shakespeare, Dickens, Tolkien, Dostojevski, Kafka, Asimov or Neruda ever sat down and wondered how they could make their characters more relatable or whether it was sufficiently dark and gritty. They just wrote good stories and what is good stands out, appeals to people and becomes a classic. If all you do is go from the dark and gritty meeting to the relatability meeting to the marketing meeting and back again and write your story on a cigarette package at 5AM, it can undoubtedly sell, but nobody is going to remember it fondly a decade or more from now ... People need less marketing and more storytelling.

It can be done. I don't think that it has anything to do with relatability, that's just a lame excuse that people come up with because their imaginations are limited.

As I stated in that original thread, They should just film Wonder Woman #1 from start to finish and everyone with relate to her and love her.
