Hey guys. I'm Neo, and I'm brand new to the world of comics and graphic novels. I've never picked one up and tried to seriously finish it until 2 weeks ago, when my friend convinced to give Watchmen a try, and I must say, I want more. However, after Watchmen (which has to be one of the best, if not the best, book I've ever read), I am a little confused as to where to head from here. I want to possibly get into some comic series, such as what DC and Marvel put out, or just single or volume-based graphic novels. I've been scoping out Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and The New Avengers, so if you have any comments on these specifically, then please put them down. Just FYI, Gambit is easily one of my favorite superheroes, has been since I was a kid. I really like his powers and style. Likewise, I love brutal, ruthless heroes such as Rorschach. Batman and Spiderman are also two staple characters that I quite enjoy. However, I am certainly willing to check out books without heroes, superpowers, or any of that.
So, please just explain to me what I should read in order to get into the DC or Marvel universes, or just list and describe some general good reading (sorry if I'm a little vague, there world of comics is quite broad and daunting). Thanks guys, any responses much appreciated.
