Wasn't there a rumor or quote about Smith possibly being Superman before they made Superman Returns? My knee-jerk reaction was to say "no," but after a moment of thought it became "Why not?" So many super heroes are white, we desperately need some diversity.

There's kind of a trend in recent times of science trumping supernatural stuff. For example, lots of vampire movies now are heavily science based, with vampirism being a disease or mutation; and of course, the force from Star Wars is now a measurable count of stuff in your blood, not just "the force is strong with this one."

Whoa. You really had no luck with your choices. Supergirl was horrible until the New Krypton event in 2009, Wonder Woman only became good when Gail Simone started writing it in 2008 I think, the fastest man alive was probably the lamest Flash book in a long time. "
Thanks for commenting on those. I wasn't sure if it was bad luck or if all DC was like that. They seemed like good places to start since they were #1s.

Re: the multiple earths thing - yeah, that is a very big reason why it's hard to get into DC. I'm not sure if I ever will.

Thanks everyone for the replies!

@Emperor Gonzo Noir:
 So is the All Star universe similar to Marvel's Ultimate universe?

This seems way too soon for a reboot. Not only is Hollywood now just doing remakes all the time, but they are remaking recent stuff! The first movie of a reboot would have to do the origin story all over again. Doesn't it seem like we just saw the origin? High school age is cool, but actors age, so they'd always have the question of recasting over their head.

@Emperor Gonzo Noir: Do you mean All Star titles are separate from the regular DC Universe? Is there one, all-encompassing trade of Infinite Crisis?
