Series that stink, but you still read

What series do you read despite its horrible quality(in your opinion of course) ?  It may be something you read out of character fanaticism, simple title loyalty, or some other reason entirely.

For me, it's the new X-Men title.  It's been pretty abysmal in my opinion, yet I still read it simply because of the characters(which are terribly portrayed by the way).

What title(s) is it for you?

gotham city sirens, out of pure character fanaticism.

I don't think I believe in "title loyalty"

Just comes down to quality for you?

Agreed, its starting to heavily go downhill, but I am sticking to it!

Batgirl as well

@Surreal SaDiablo:  yes batgirl too. although i'm enjoying it a lot more than sirens.

Its fun, but its not really taking me anywhere. I enjoyed the Supergirl issue, but I will probably drop it soon.

supposedly they're going to really start developing a Rogue gallery for her in upcoming issues

hopefully not gantz
i love the manga but i heard it sunk

Posted by ragdollpurps
@N7_Normandy: ehh, it's borderline. i feel like its not as great as it could be, but i think that's because they're not putting much effort into it. i get this feeling from it that it was put out there just to attract a newer generation of female readers. and now that babs has been kinda replaced by wendy i'm not sure where its going to go, but i'll be picking it up nonetheless.

Superman, atm, Grounded has gone on long enough. The same with Green Lantern proper and the ragtag Corps they've thrown together.

was the last straw, there's only so much of a writer's fanboyism I can take. I'm sticking to only GLC and EW now.

The recent Clayface issue was pretty good.  I'm hoping that we'll see her in some more meaningful situations.  She needs to be involved in some bigger arcs

exactly. the title is supposed to be part of this whole batman reborn thing but so far she hasn't really had any part in it. i'm just waiting her return of bruce wayne issue or whatever the hell its called. then i shall see if its worth it.

Hopefully things will start to ramp up; I really enjoy Steph as a character, but she really needs to be involved in some more meaningful situations.  She also needs a real clear cut nemesis.

I only read the best. A few years back, I bought all of the "Countdown to Crisis" TPB for Infinite Crisis. Huge financial mistake. Except the Secret Six one. Everything else was trash, and thus why I never buy mainstream comics anymore

Given how bad it's been, I just can't read this series.  I may jump on for issue 7 when Rulk joins the team.  I read Avengers Academy instead, which is awesome.

@N7_Normandy: they just get too ridiculous, with all their crossovers and multiple writers working on the same character. I remember opening a page of Final Crisis and having no f*cking clue who anyone was on the page. Mainstream was great when I was a kid, but there have been so many mistakes and poor decision making on these characters, they just don't appeal to me anymore. I haven't bought a mainstream issue since like Civil War (though I did read SCW, which was okay. I tried Blackest Night but lost interest pretty quickly)

I like the marvel events, but the DC events are so damn confusing.  They require a ton of knowledge and hinge on a deep understanding of DC continuity.  That's why Bat-Titles are the only DC books I read.

@N7_Normandy: Exactly. If you don't get the reference, you're most likely going to be confused with the rest of the story

When a comic is not up to proper standards then it doesn't deserve to be read.

I would only suggest it if your a fan of Catwoman, Harley, or Ivy

If I think it stinks, I probably wouldn't read it. Now others might think it stinks, but that's just them.

It's currently focusing on Catwoman and her knowledge of Batman's identity.  Should start tying in with Bruce's return

Under-performing is a bit different from "stinks." Yeah, I'll do that from time to time. To see what happens, see if I like it. Typically when that happens, I get through the story, look back over why I thought it was good and how it coulda been better then move on. Was kinda like that when OMIT was out, then I got to the second issue and discovered that I thought it was really cool. Got a little bit of the same thing goin' on with Avengers right now. Didn't care for them going to see the Next Avengers for a while, and then when it happened, I figured, "yeah, okay, I can go with that."

I kind of felt the same way about Origin of Species until the last issue.  It was great to see good old Spidey thrash his entire rogue gallery without the black suit

I don't think they stink but they aren't great so far.....the new X-Men series, Secret Avengers, and I read Green Lantern because a friend has me pick it up for him when I hit the comic shop.

Posted by batman_is_god

I only read Batman&Robin to keep up with what is going on, I could not be more over heroes being killed. Plus, I have never cared for Dick. It is not a completely bad series, I just don't care for anyone but Damian Wayne in the book.

@Dracade102: Just chiming in, but the little I read of Gotham City Sirens, my favorite issue was #3 which I believe was focussed solely on The Riddler.

On topic, I read Streets of Gotham and I think it's the weakest of the Bat books, but I keep picking it up every month.

New Mutants.  It had such potential to begin with, but stories are never concluded, characters act out of character and the art is constantly mediocre.  In short, if it wasn't for the fact that this is the New Mutants, then I'd have dropped the title & used the back issue to line litter trays up & down the country.

The current arc isn't too bad; I quite enjoy all the Limbo stuff

I read 'Venom: Dark Origin' despite how awfully out of character and poorly crafted (due to the artist/writer not doing their #%$&ing homework) it was.

New Avengers, since SIEGE, has been a real stinker. I'm probably going to drop it unless something decent happens after next issue.
