A thought occurred to me concerning the relationship between Cassandra and Charles. I believe there may be something in the comics to back this up, but I don't have the issues to reference.
Cassandra and Charles had a psychic battle in-utero, with Charles being the victor, leaving Cassandra as nothing more than a nebulous psychic consciousness that had to construct her own body years later. ... ... ...Somehow.
What if, to Cassandra, at least, the battle didn't end? What if to her, everything that has happened since then has been nothing but the continuing psychic battle between her and Charles?
This is not to say that she's simply pathologically focused on revenge, (see Danger), so much as that the two of them are all that really exists? Everything else is an extension of one or the other. Finding the last remaining Trask, controlling the sentinels, weaseling her way into Charles' head, they were all just necessary steps to continue the battle against Charles. And even when she had effectively won, she still had to return to Earth and wipe out all mutants, who to her, were all necessarily just extensions of Charles' mind. Even Emma is just another facet of his attack on her, (pun intended).
I wonder what would happen were she to be necessarily able to comprehend that everyone else is just as real as she and Charles are. That all the horror she's done is "real".
