James Howlett, better known as Logan aka Wolverine has entertained fans from the comic-book shelves for over 40 years.
And the time to say "Rest in peace Wolverine" has come.
(Until Marvel decides to bring him back.)
I believe some sort of award is appropriate for such long service.
My suggestion...Darwin Award !!!
For the dumbest choice to save human life.
Enough with the sarcasm.

As you all can already guess I'm not really fond of the ending in the "Death of Wolverine #4"
In fact I think that issue is a major slap-on-the-cheek to Wolverine's intelligence.
After finishing that issue I was walking around my room with anger and disbelieve !
After so many changes, development and surprises for the fans...THAT is the way Wolverine dies ?! Seriously !?
*deep breath*
OK before moving on.
* If you agree with me that the presented death of Logan is "inappropriate". Feel free to continue reading my forum and do leave a comment.
* However if you think Wolverine had an ending worth his career, go do something else, cuz you might not like what you read.

So how exactly Wolverine met his end and what pissed me off in it ?
Dr Cornelius, as an old man, was fulfilling his "dying-wish" to be remembered by the world for something else than creating Wolverine.
He collected adamantium all over the world, gathered obedient, well trained subjects and placed a very high bounty on Wolverine so he could copy his healing factor.
Personally I think that is a very good idea for script. Simple yet dramatic meeting with the creator.
And I can relate to Dr Cornelius feelings. To be remembered after death and fixing mistakes.
Thumb up here.
So Wolverine tracks down The Dr and finds his lab, where 3 unknown men are strapped and ready for adamantium bonding process.
Skipping a small fight with a glowing dude.
Cornelius runs away and on his way initiates the bonding process.
Of course Logan wants to save the "poor strangers", since he takes the using-adamantium-on-people very personally.
(I'm sure if they bugged Logan in a bar he would kill them without thinking but Logan is a hypocrite, proved by Sabertooth. Moving on.)
So what he does to save them ?
He cuts through a giant tank of liquid adamantium !!
A container filled with metal that once cooled down, becomes indestructible !!!
There are few people who had more experience with adamantium than Wolverine and he does the dumbest thing in the world ?!
Really Mr Charles Soule ? Really ?
Wolverine's IQ gets reduced to a level of a moron who does things without thinking ? I believe our hero deserves MUCH more.
And that's not just my point of view but a result of an deep analyze. ______________________________________________
Look at the image below.
The adamantium bonding equipment consist few major elements.
RED - main liquid adamantium container
ORANGE - a pipe that provides adamantium from main container
YELLOW - smaller container for adamantium
GREEN - pipes that lead adamantium to the needles (probably, I'm not sure.)
LIGHT BLUE - mechanical, surgical arms (again not sure if this is the part that leads adamantium to the needles, so I mentioned it anyway.)
So here is the deal.
Dr Cornelius triggers the bonding process and runs away.
At that point the liquid adamantium traveled from main container (red) via the pipe (orange) to the secondary container (yellow).
That's when Logan reacted. He popped the claws and rushed to the machinery to destroy it.
And he picked the worst part to cut. The part that obviously would cover him with adamantium and in the precess kill him.
There were like dozen other possibilities to save those guys.
The pipes (green) or the arms (light blue). I'm sure cutting those off would work without Logan dying.
He could just make a cut in the bottom of the smaller tank (yellow) and avoid being splashed with deadly wave. Not going like a bullet which obviously would end with death.

And there is his bull**it speech in issue #3.
"No more chances."
"...every choice matters."
"Just one chance . And I'm gonna use it."
What a piece of major hypocrisy.
How one wants to live and do something that will result in death !?

So here it is. I got this mess off my chest.
Wolverine died in a simple adventure confronting his past, but he died doing the dumbest thing he could do and that I find a major insult to our beloved character.
At least Reality Earth-616 will have a nice new adamantium statue (since the Hulk's was melted by Cornelius.)
