this is spiraling head first into a debate over religion in comic books... lets try and get back on track...

Should Comic Book Hero's Be Gay?

================================

firstly, my answer... if it fits with their character and isn't just a publicity stunt to make more money for the book? absolutely, i have no problem about a comic book character being straight, bi-sexual or homosexual.

secondly, my response to a major misgiving on this thread...

I've noticed through a lot of these posts, people are talking about homosexuality as if it has a direct correlation to religion... fact is, it doesn't.

people are homosexual because thats the way they are... it's not something that's limited by race, color or creed... anyone can, or could be homosexual or bisexual...

people have noted that this is a sore topic for me, and I've answered as to why in a post above, so i pose the question to everyone.

would #you# be offended morally if one of your family members was gay?

would #you# shun them and say that they are the ones who are morally wrong?

and just quickly, can someone point out the commandment in the bible where it says it's 'morally wrong' to be homosexual?

as far as i knew, these were the 10 commandments...

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'

SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

nowhere in those commandments does it say it is immoral to be homosexual.

personally i think it's rather a bigger sin to hate someone just because they have made a lifestyle choice that you disagree with, than to be open with yourself and admit you're homosexual.

my last point, if you come across a comic character that is gay, and you find this offensive... do the adult thing, don't but the book... simple enough.

if anyone is offended by comic book character being gay, just ask and I'm sure one of the major comic collectors here will be able to point out a group of books for you to stay away from.

personally i find racism, sexism and homophobia a lot more offensive than someone being gay.

Well one of my friend was raised in a...very christian home (even though he isnt that christian now but anyway) his parents agument was that the bible says that sexual activity should be for reproduction only, not for plesure...and gay sex is strictly plesure...thats what i heard but personally i agree with you

Jaime Reyes - Kord was a young mother orphan and son of the great explorer Ted Kord. In one expedition with his father, Jaime watched the death of his father in front of his eyes by the hands of russian explorers who compited for many time with Kord. But Jaime continued the journey of his father to find the mythical Mystic Beetle, an egypcian legend. Once found, the Beetle turned himself as a vital body organ of Jaime, which in danger situation would transform Jaime into an armored blue beetle-like being. With base in Hub City, Blue Beetle defends the city, and, with the fortune of his deceased father he founded and lead the Kord Enterprises."
