This is a good article about Oisin:

http://www.leafscience.org/gary-hudson/

Oisin Biotechnologies is a rejuvenation biotechnology company which received its seed funding from the Methuselah Foundation and SENS Research Foundation a few years ago.

The current focus of Oisin is the targeted clearance of senescent cells sometimes referred to as senolytics.

I might want to do it for awhile but not forever. I feel there are things I want to do, not to mention mistakes to fix and one lifetime isn't enough.

I don't see what's the point in discussing living forever, as we'll never reach the end of eternity, even if we are completely unable to die.

I guess it might not be unreasonable to think that one day you'll decide you have lived enough and it's time to die, but why would your choice of death be aging?

Aging's got to be in top 10 worst ways to die. Aging gradually decays you, makes you sick and dependent, makes you suffer for decades and kills your will for life before it finally kills you.

Would it not be better to just blow your brains out?

Is anyone here familiar with studies on microdosing with LSD?

I can't find anything reliable on the internet.

@mortein: Don't bother :-)

Ok, but I'm interested in your opinion about SENS and Aubrey de Grey.

Also, if you could comment about the work of George Church, David Sinclair, Bill Andrews, Nathaniel David, Andrei Gudkov, and companies like Calico or Bioviva. I don't expect that you are familiar with all of them but you've probably heard about some of them and their work.

There's still a lot of quackery in this field and sometimes it's really hard for me to distinguish the real science from pseudoscience.

@mortein: 376 posts?!

Seems like an interesting thread, but I don't know if and when I will the time to go through it!

I might be free this Saturday and Sunday, so I could make a summary for you.

But this thread consists mostly of philosophical/sociological/political/economical discussions, science is maybe 20%.

It's also fairly repetitive, just take a look at how many times I addressed the overpopulation problem.

I think that current Goku vs Beerus fight would be similar to Saiyan saga Goku vs saiyan saga Vegeta fight.

With highest possible kaioken (whatever that might be at the moment) Goku could briefly surpass Beerus and seriously injure him.

Few years ago I've heard Church saying we might be a decade away from curing aging, and now he seems to be doubling down on his prediction.

Does the Fountain of Youth really exist?

He's claiming we'll end aging in 5 years. For a scientist of George's caliber to say we'll cure aging would have been a career suicide just 10 years ago.

It honestly seems unbelievable, and I'm not sure how he intends to do this, but it's obvious that it will primarily involve genetic modification.

.

And as always, predictions of Dr. Bill Andrews are even crazier.

According to he we could be no more than few years from turning Betty White into a young lady.

-The idea makes sense, but would be difficult to be proven

-I don't know. But this is a good question and I will look into it this week.

Also, the fast rate at which they reproduce allows the bacteria to evolve much faster than big mammals like us.

So I would guess that it would take us far more time to turn viral remnants in our DNA into something positive.
