Powers & Abilities
Advanced Intellect: The Raptor, despite his reptilian properties, is actually quite intelligent, having a genius-level intellect.
Combat Training: The Raptor has been well-trained in various forms of combat, having mastered a hand-to-hand technique relying on brute force and integrating his tail, claws, and teeth. He is also a well-trained marksman and grenadier, as well versed in the arts of ranged combat as he is melee.
Enhanced Senses: The Raptor's eyes possess the ability to view the world through the infrared spectrum, allowing him sight as clear and keen in pitch blackness as it is in the daytime. The Raptor's sense of smell is greatly enhanced beyond that of a human's able to identify an individual person's scent before he can see them, as well as pick up on certain things such as adrenaline or fatigue toxin levels to tell the mental condition of an opponent. He can hear extremely quiet noises such as heartbeats, or hear noises from much further way. This hearing allows him to detect when an opponent is scared or lying due to changes in their heart rate.
Lizard Brain: The Raptor possesses the ability to revert to a primal state of thinking, acting solely on instincts. He becomes significantly more powerful, at the cost of becoming temporarily feral, losing his intellect and training. In this state he relies entirely on brute force, doing away with weapons and technique, worrying only about the kill and executing it as efficiently and as savagely as possible. This is typically only used when in serious danger as a defense mechanism, due to his not being able to revert back to his intelligence while under the effects. This typically lasts around 6 hours.
Environmental Versatility: The Raptor can breath underwater as well as on land, able to swim at alarming speeds rivaling his running, and stay submerged indefinitely without needing to come up. This, combined with his inherent durability, makes him immune to the effects of the pressure at even the deepest parts of the ocean floor. He is also capable of traversing through the Earth quite easily, able to burrow down into even hard rock with relative ease. He is at home in a subterranean environment as he is on land, able to see perfectly int he pitch blackness that comes with, and able to traverse through his own tunnels at alarming speeds. A favorite of his is tunneling below an opponent before springing forth from the ground behind them.
Superhuman Strength: The Raptor possesses sufficient superhuman strength to lift about 12 tons. His physical strength has extended into the muscles of his legs allowing him to leap about 18 feet into the air. He has been able to rip a large bank vault door right off its hinges with ease, as well as use a human being as a projectile weapon.
Superhuman Speed: The Raptor can run and move at speeds greater than that of the finest human athlete and can reach a top speed of about 45 miles per hour. He can, after acceleration, reach a maximum speed of approximately 115 miles per hour.
Superhuman Stamina: The Raptor's advanced musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair him.
Superhuman Durability: The Raptor's scaly skin and superhumanly enhanced bodily tissues provide him much greater resistance to physical injury than an ordinary human. He can withstand great impact forces, falls from great heights, small explosive impact, and small caliber bullets without sustaining injury.
Superhuman Agility: The Raptor's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes: The Raptor's reflexes match his speed, able to move fluidly at great speeds, and react when accelerating just as he could if he were moving at a typical pace. Able to strike extremely quickly, a quick and light attack being able to form, travel, and connect in as little as 0.15 seconds. This allows him to attack multiple times at full force in an extremely small timeframe, allowing a flurry of potentially lethal attacks to be released in the time i would take an average human to execute one.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite The Raptor's physical durability, he can sustain physical injury. However, if injured, his body is able to rapidly regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. The Raptor's healing powers are developed to the point where he can fully regenerate missing limbs, just like many known reptile species. From years of battle, his skin has thickened significantly, with massive amounts of nerve-damaged scar tissue beneath his scales, making him hard to damage still once both his natural and artificial armors have been breached.
Tail: The Raptor has a long, reptilian-like tail that he can use to help balance himself or as an offensive weapon. He is capable of whipping his tail at speeds of at least 70 miles per hour when standing still, far greater when running at top speed. Considering his strength and physical toughness, he can generate enough force to shatter concrete. Like some geckos, The Raptor can detach his tail and grow a new one.
Tongue: The Raptor has a long, retractable tongue, which he can shoot forth incredible fast. This tongue is incredibly strong, having many muscles inside which make it controllable as an extra limb, capable of wrapping itself around limbs or objects to be pulled back to The Raptor, or even lifting grown men in the air independently. The tongue is very durable as well, able to be shot forth with speed and strength sufficient to impale a man from a few feet away. This tongue can be coated in acid, so caution should be used when attempting to grab it.
Fangs & Claws: The Raptor's fingers and toes are each tipped with razor sharp claws that, combined with his natural strength, are able to cut most conventional materials including flesh, bone, wood, stone, and some types of metals. These claws also allow him to scale most vertical surfaces, provided his claws can penetrate. His mouth is also filled with rows of razor sharp teeth that he can use as offensive weapons in close combat situations.
Acid: The Raptor possesses the ability to create excess amounts of extremely corrosive stomach acid, and regurgitate it on command. The limits to how much acid he can generate is unknown. The Raptor possesses a unique muscle in his mouth which allows him to spit this acid long distances, the amount of which determined by The Raptor during the regurgitation process. This can range anywhere from a small splash to a large puddle of acid, The Raptor being able to squirt a continuous stream or simply shoot a small amount at once. This acid is corrosive enough to melt through flesh, bone, wood, stone, and most metals.
Invisibility: The Raptor possesses the ability to turn completely invisible on command. Unlike the Chameleon in the fact that his skin does not change color, but turns invisible, The Raptor must remain focused and concentrated in order to stay invisible. Many things, such as being hit or startled can break this concentration, revealing him. This invisibility provides no resistance to psionics, rendering the ability useless against telepaths.
Gear
The Raptor is quite fond of ranged weaponry, often carrying a wide range of weapons. His typical loadout usually consists of:
- Large Serrated Knife (as scaled to the Raptor). If a human were to hold it, it's size would be comparable to a sword.
- .50 Caliber Taurus Raging Bull (occasionally two) equipped with speed-loaders for the Raptor's convenience.
- M61 Vulcan Rotary Cannon (a gun typically mounted on fighter jets)
- Barett XM500 .50 Caliber Bullpup Anti-Material Rifle
- Milkor 40mm Multiple Grenade Launcher
- M9A1-7 Flamethrower (Fuel Tank on Back)*
- Varying amounts of SEMTEX 10 Plastic Explosive
The Raptor has been known to carry other weapons for specific purposes, but his standard weaponry is what is listed above. This does not, however, mean that he will always carry these weapons, but rather that he carries these weapons far more often than others.
The Raptor, despite his armored scales, will still on occasion don armor when facing particularly difficult opponents or jobs. His variable armor types consist of:
- Nothing at All.
- Varying 'Street Clothes'.
- Very light brown leather armor worn only on places that do not move, such as the shins, forearms, tops of shoulders, etc.
- A bright yellow fire-retardant jumpsuit worn with a simple mask that covers the mouth and nose to prevent smoke inhalation.*
- Significantly heavier lightweight metal armor capable of withstanding concentrated automatic gunfire to the torso and forearms, black with dark red and grey accents.
*May not always have. Always used in conjunction with one another.
