The Marvel Sash

I noticed something disturbingly familiar with a significant number of Marvel Superheroines.
I would like to call this the Marvel Sash.

Iron Fist! One, his belt is yellow which is pretty low amongst martial artists. Two, if giving his enemies a sash to grab wasn't enough, his mask come with its own ponytails.

See but maybe the sash's are tied up in such a way that if someone grabs them they'll just come loose. So instead of holding a hero back a villain will find themselves just holding some cloth and the hero beats the crap out of them. Besides I don't mind the sash so much, it's much better than the billion pockets every hero used to have.

Its the same thing as having a cape, it doesn't really serve a purpose other then to add that missing something for the characters costume. As for Mr. Sinister is that really a sash or is it a red belt?
