@feartheliving: @maccyd: marvel comics makes hundreds of comics a year. Marvel studios makes 2 movies a year. They have a lot less room to add and introduce new characters.
Not to mention movies tend to work better when they have a single protagonist. Adding more characters into a movie takes more time off of the main character and gives the movie less focus
Not every character needs a movie a year or constant sequels. Not to mention the MCU is bigger than just movies it also has television shows. So I see no reason as to why they couldn't have more character show up on the televsions showss for an arch then disappear for a bit or get their own show. Or have something similar to Agent Carter where they start in a movie then get their own miniseries. Not every character needs a long running series year to year bring them out when they have a story to tell.
The problem with that is it assumes the general audience is going to remember all of the characters whenever they do cross over. Film makers can't rely on the audience keeping up with every little detail of every film and TV show. They have to assume that the people going to see their movie have no experience with the universe what-so-ever. It's the reason why Whedon said that he would never have the AoS characters crossover into the movies, because it would bring up to many questions for the GA. Didn't that guy die? Who are these people? What are they doing here?
That's just a small issue now, but eventually more things like that will happen. There will be a disconnect for some people who haven't been following the entire MCU. And while the MCU isn't too large right now, its definitely on its way. If the MCU expands too large it will collapse on itself. How long that will take? I don't know. It could be a couple more decades. But I think Marvel needs to either keep the MCU trimmed or give up on the idea of EVERY movie being connected to each other, and EVERY character interacting with each other.
