I honestly can't believe how people over analyze things. The death star was a weapon that was used to kill millions of innocent people. And was about to kill millions more when it blew up.
It was the flagship of the empire and would have been filled top to bottom with absolutely loyal personnel. And Luke shouldn't have blown it up because there maybe could have been what, a dozen prisoners on board? Maybe? Keep in mind the death star was brand new at this point and the detention cells were most likely empty.
So Luke is the bad guy because he blew up a space station filled with 99.99% oppressive tyrants in order to save a planet filled with millions of innocent people? Great logic there.
Also the Hitler analogy is wrong. If Hitler had a city size warship, staffed with military personnel that was flying around nuking countries and you found out it was heading towards your country, with your friends and family, you would refuse to blow it up because, maybe, MAYBE, there are a couple janitors on board who don't want to be there? You need to get your priorities straight.
