@AgeofHurricane: Imagine death of an actor playing the main role in a tv series - creators can't continue the way it meant to be. They have two choices - drastic changes or cancelation of the series. Judging that the X23 series cancelation was an sudden order from above, it may be a similiar situation

This.

And--yes, I agree with you that that was Liu's intent...but it came off forced. By 'forced' I mean not logical and natural to the character. When Laura had been acting the way she had, for several years, it's hard to convince the audience that she just changed her mind on a whim. If Hellion and X-23 had to be split up, it should have been handled through other means. I can appreciate wanting to show character growth but all growth must be believable and--as I said--logical, and natural. The best reason to cause a split, in my view, would have been more safety-related on Hellion's part. Or the choice way...but with more development. The *I JUST CHANGED MY MIND, LAWL* method didn't work too well when it seemed to happen between issues. This needed more gradual development throughout the series. And if that couldn't be achieved, then don't touch on it at all and leave it for a future writer.

Yep, she should have left it laying for someone else to pick up. I really think she had other plans for the relationship. She hyped up Julian making a return in the solo series so much, it's hard to believe that she would only bring him back for (2?) issues, and then slap him around. Call me crazy, but pretty sure Liu knew that's not what the fans wanted at all. lol

And, like Ambiva said in an earlier post, Laura has ALWAYS been the one more in love with Julian than he was with her. There are way too many call-outs in the comics of her doing things as a result of her secret love for him. Wolverine mentioning how she lit up like a Christmas tree when he was mentioned, when she said they were all dead the minute they laid a finger on him, how she watched over him, not once but TWICE! Her coming to say good by while he was sleeping. Cutting herself out of jealousy. I mean come on!? Meh, whatever happened, or didn't happen upstairs at Marvel, the way this played out just isn't right.

I like them all for different reasons, but I lean more towards Kyle/Yost. Their stories are what got me hooked on X-23, and I love them. Target X is one of m favorite TPBs, and I loved their X-Force run even if a lot of people hated it. Liu is good, I liked the new direction she too Laura in, but like you said, she left some things dangling. Mainly the very first story arcs plot, and I hated the way she handled Laura and Hellion's relationship. Should they have gotten together? Maybe, maybe not, but the way she severed it was just so... out of left field I thought. I do still think that the end of her run had a lot to do with the decision though, and can't really fault her personally for it, but it does count against her run.

Lots of separate elements coming together in just the right way are what makes a good story. There are staples to it, things that a story require, but getting it in the right mixture, putting in the right nuances, that's what makes them great.

I'd trade wait Justice League Dark. It's a good series, but it just moves so slow to me that it's probably worth it to wait for the collected stories.

I'd keep Superboy, and really Teen Titans too. I really like Lobdells work on these so far, especially Teen Titans. It may be a new crew, but they're pretty interesting so far.

I'm not sure about Trade waiting Catwoman. Her story so far seems really scattered. It's not a bad book, but the story just doesn't seem very much like an arc. If that makes sense.

I'd probably drop:

  1. Deathstroke (Fun comic, but is it worth the $2.99?)
  2. Legion Lost (Doesn't even remotely interest me.)
  3. Stormwatch (Another uninteresting one to me.)
  4. Legion of Superheroes (And another.)
  5. The rest of your close to dropping list minus Teen Titans.

I think so, but I don't think they should get together again. I kind of want something new, not that I didn't like the old relationship. It's just... I don't like the new Lois Lane. She is kind of a snob to Clark I think, and I would love to see her find out he's Supes, only to have him finally grow a backbone and reject her for not noticing him as a love interest before then. Maybe snob is a little strong of a word. It just kind of made me mad how he went home alone in the first issue after going to see her. Not only that, but the way she talked about him as he was leaving to the guy she was sleeping with. RaWr! Not to say they couldn't eventually hash things out, but I think it'd be a little vindication for him, and fun to boot.

I disagree with either version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's female leads. For one I don't think they have the right build to them. Not like the actress in the original posters thread. I've never seen her act, but she just looks like she could handle herself. The other girls don't. Not in that way, they're much too scrawny. Not to mention they are highly unattractive to me. Not that Kate needs to be some sexy vixen or anything, but she at least looks vaguely attractive in the comics. Not to mention she really does favor the first actress up there.

I love it! It's a great comic, and I was in the camp that Aquaman was just there for comic relief before I began picking up the new comics. Definitely worth it.

Kind of cool Karma is in it. I like her enough to read it anyway.

I kind of like the Green Lantern movie. Don't shoot me! I dunno it was fun at least, and I hadn't ever read a Green Lantern comic before the movie. It at least got me to try it out in the New 52. Don't get me wrong though, it is no where near as good as Batman's current run on the Box Office. Oh, and I liked the last Superman movie too.
