@entropy_aegis: I think this is the best way of putting it. Bane's skillset (and effectiveness) are similar to Batman, and Batman beats Joker all the time. Joker is more important as an opposing moral and philosophical force.

@TheSwordsman: Well, you seem to have missed the point. Seth had speed/strength/etc on a level that exceeded Midnighter's ability to find a solution to. Storm can generate power on an impressive scale, however, she does not have the reaction speed or durability to deal with what Midnighter throws.

@acer51: He was incapacitated by magic, shattered in thousands of pieces, and scattered around the globe, but even then as soon as enough of him was collected in one place he was physically fine. Wolverine simply doesn't have the resources to effect anything near that, and would have to find some extreme deus ex machina to have a chance of pulling out a win. He couldn't cut Plas enough to prevent being immobilized, and ultimately rendered unconscious.

Bane's physical prowess and size combined with his only slightly (arguably) lower skill give him the edge here. Bane is beastly; Elektra has proven to often be all to human.

you do understand that Bane was playing them the entire time...why do the work himself when he could get Young Justice to do it for him....also how was he to know anything about them...the Young Justice universe isn't New Earth it's Earth-16 and most of the kids on Young Justice have only been active for a year or so...it's very conceivable that Bane didn't have any idea who Kid Flash was or how fast he was....there are tons of heroes and villains who are stronger than Bane and the Mammoth of Earth-16 was made using a super venom so it's really understandable how he was stronger than Bane...Superboy being stronger than him is just common sense....also lets set things straight here...the only reason that Bane beat Batman was because he wore him down using the Arkham inmates to do his dirty work...if Batman were fresh he would have stomped Bane

Lets set things straight,Bane could have killed him right at the start of Knightfall(Vengeance of Bane).Bane had him cornered in some gym and with the assistance of his cronies(who were actually pretty damn good) he could have beaten Batman there and then. But where's the fun in that. As for YG,i'm not as angry as i am disappointed. He clearly was'nt incompetent as his other portryals but having Cheshire ,Black Spider and even Ubu get more credit for their abilities over Bane is very unfair.Nobody was asking for him to be put up against Mammoth or Superboy.Cheshire did'nt end up with them so why should Bane? Fact is that Batman has never faced an armed Bane on venom. He has faced Bane(unarmed and venom less)on 3 occasions and only won 1 fight and barely i might add. Simply put,i want Bane to be displayed as a formidable street level character, there is no point in making him smart and then putting him up against heavy hitters.Nobody knew who Mammoth is so Bane comes out looking really bad,it's damaging to his reputation, even moreso than Batman and Robin(atleast we can blame Schumacher for that).

Naw, he came out alright; Mammoth was clearly a powerhouse, and the fact that he is on the higher end of the "street-level" spectrum was played nicely. If felt less like a job and more like a Batman style out-maneuvering-the-gods type thing.

The original poster's outrage seems largely misplaced. The character has had Hispanic overtones from the very beginning, often saying "Que?" instead of "What?" and naming his teddy bear "Osito." What's more, while he is definitely on the losing end of this episode, I never felt like he wasn't scheming and plotting his comeback, which is far more important to me than having him actually come out on top. The tone here was that he was ambushed by very powerful forces and had to come back from a deficit on the fly. The look and feel of him here may be my favorite take yet in animation.

@danhimself: I disagree that Batman stomps if he's at his peak; more like he wins as often as not. The qualification of worn out batman only explains why Bane so thoroughly demolishes him.

I kind of liked that it took a vehicle mounted cannon to finish him off. Also, the fact that he was not doing the serial villain thing any longer of leaving the hero to suffer, and was just like "I'm going to kill you now."

@vandinejd_1991: the gas is to control the pain from injuries and botched repair while in the prison.

As far as the back breaking strength, a normal human in excellent physical condition and of Bane's size could very plausibly smash another human over their knee.

@ApeKindaBaked: In an interview Tom Hardy said he based it on a famous Irish Bare-knuckle boxer. Bane's nationality is clearly altered in the Nolan-verse, from the comic, where he grew up in a south american prison.
