@JohnnyGat: I agree, I feel Osborn needs a bit more build up before they unleash the Green Goblin on Spidey (fingers crossed for the Ultimate Universe version!)
My dream for the second film would be to feature Peter getting the black suit. It would basically be based on the Ultimate version of Venom where Peter and Eddie's fathers created the symbiote in an attempt to find a cure for Cancer (maybe this is what's killing Norman Osborn?). Peter would find an old photo of Eddie, reconnect with his childhood friend, come into contact with the black goo and BAM! we have black suit Spidey. The black suit would bring out the darker aspects of his personality and this will make things interesting when he comes face to face with the man who killed Uncle Ben (you almost forget he never caught him in the first one!). It would also be cool to see Black Cat introduced in full costume as she would tempt a symbiote controlled Peter with a life free of responsibility. All this would obviously drive a wedge between him and Gwen and up the drama. Meanwhile Eddie Brock will be slowly driven to hate Peter and ultimately become Venom just in time for Act 3. Badass fight ensues, Brock leaves with the suit, Venom is established for his spin-off movie, and Peter is left to deal with the consequences of his actions while under the influence of the black suit and pick up the pieces of his relationship with Gwen.
Plus also Osborn needs to turn up in the next film or two because the Gwen Stacy death would be too good to pass. It could also be Electro as he can go through the electricity or it could be Hydro-Man who comes through the water but I also agree with @JohnnyGat that it would be good to end the trilogy with goblin although I personally think add GG next film kill Gwene at end Spidey wants revenge third film whilst starting to have a relation ship with MJ (if they introduce her).
Ifans said of the scene, "Connors is sent to an asylum, a high-security asylum ... [a]nd he's visited by, shall we say, a representative from Oscorp. How he gets into that cell and how he leaves that cell without the guards knowing? We have yet to find out." The unnamed character, played by Michael Massee, is credited as "Man in the shadows".
Honestly I believe it was Conners split personality. I think this for several reasons. First, in the comics he's been beaten by "cures" before and regressed back into a human however it has never been permanent (at least I believe so). During the movie we have multiple cases when Conners is talking to himself as if their is a new personality (the lizard) within him. The figure appears out of nowhere in his room and the vanishes, which usually indicates some kind of internal conversation in movies. While taking to the figure we notice they scales appear on the sides of Conners neck, indicating they lizard is not good. Also we have the fact they the figures arm is covered up, which means it could be missing. Lastly going back to the conversation; it was apparent that Conners knew something about Parker's parents incident. The figure asks him about it and the figure is pleased while Conners seems almost scared. The lizard persona is very aggressive and it's possible that the other side of him wants leverage on Peter the next time they meet. Who it may also be; I've also thought of other spiderman villains it would possibly be and really only mysterio (first pick outside of Conners inner self) and Norman. Now we all know Gwen has to die (sadly) and that GreenbGoblin may possible come from the shadows.
I thinks its Osborn as it talks about Peters parents and who did his father work for OsCorp plus he's the Goblin who might have gotten into Conners head.
Doesn't explain how he could just vanish like that from within a locked room
But it would be good if it was Norman because everyone knows about the Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy.
Yes it would be good if they make the Green Goblin a villain but it's be better if they build him up for a third film. The seeds have already been planted with the whole conspiracy and the constant mention of Osborn and Oscorps connection with said conspiracy but if the second film they decide to tackle it it might feel rushed. Now you let the conspiracy grow a bit more in a sequel and save GG for the third for the finale of the conspiracy it paces it better.
That would probably make better sense than just doing it in the second film, but maybe the end scene was just to add more to the conspiracy.
It was not Norman Osborn, the guy who played the Lizard said a while back it was not Norman, but it was an employee of Oscorp. I think it was either Electro, Mysterio, Chameleon, Kraven, or someone taken over by the symbiote. They seem like the people who could disappear like that. Electro through becoming pure electricity, and flowing outside or through the lightbulb, Mysterio through his effects, Kraven through his sneaking hunting skills, Chameleon through his changing and blending skills, and the symbiote through blending into the shadows due to it's black color
I think it was Mysterio. I can't really think of any other Spider-Man villain that could just appear and vanish like that. Plus he would be an amazing movie villain, because he could play tricks on spider-man and the audience, so I hope it's him.
Basically this and Electro because IIRC, he disappeared with a lightning strike. I'm also starting to think we might have a Sinister Six story on our hands.
.i was thinking either osborn due to the direction of the plot, but the dissapearing act and the supernatural echo in the voice makes me think electro. Which would be pretty cool.

@JohnnyGat: My point is what if there was never anyone there besides in Connors mind
Those moments where Doc Connors was talking to himself it was more noticeable to be a conversation between him as a person and him as a superior species in his mind there was never any indication that any part of his psyche would manifest itself to be shown in front of him in a physical form.
Osborn as is constantly mentioned in the film is in a position where he might die so I doubt he would have been able to go to a prison facility for a little chat with Connors. I do agree on the possibility that it may be someone who works for Osborn and is part of this conspiracy, I won't deny the possibility that whoever that is might be a villain already. I'm just expressing my doubts on it being Osborn because the things we're presented in this first film doesn't compute with the idea that it is Osborn.
yeah I think it was Osborn or an employee or something and the lightning effect was just for drama.
I hope they continue the animal gen crossing human theme so I hope Kraven will be the sequel's main villain hired by Osborn (Kraven the best hunter and exceptional hitman) equiped with special doses of potions that gives him animal powers like cheetah, bear,... but give Kraven a less flamboyant suit more of a black suit with a collar and he fights with machetes and thowing knives maybe also some secondary villains like chameleon, he got the same treatment like Lizard but with a chameleon imagine a man with a white chameleon like skin, a suit and some guns with the ability to alter his appearence.

No it wasnt thats just my theory as both Goblin and Connors have mental issues so I dont see why Connors wouldnt imagine a conversation with Osborn or it could just be cause Osborns rich he paid to get in and the lighting is just cinema dramatics

For me, the villian sounds like Morbius more than Norman Osborn - cos seriously, the guy disappears in lighting, only a vamp can do that (as far as I know)...
Seriously though, yes there is and it hints about who the villain in the inevidable sequel might be, though I don't have a clue who it is because I didn't recognize him at all.
