X-23 / aka: Laura Kinney, not really good or evil, is just trying to make sense of a world she was never prepared to deal with, or maybe, was prepared too much, at the expense of what could help. With a stunted, abused youth that left her hiding on the streets, she learned to slip through darkness, and sees the world all too different than her more fortunate X-Men colleagues. She can't help but to react on her terms as well, astonishing the X-Men with her level of brutality. Often taken as a cold killer with *no compassion*, a machine all too often used and abused, upon close, careful examination, is a person struggling to get out of that tough shell Kimura sadistically beat into her. Her tears are so slight they are easily missed, her remaining soul's clues delivered so unfamiliar and guarded that they are usually missed and overlooked, the toughest battle is with herself. X-23 has no choice, at least for now, but to live life on her harsh, abused, violent terms, and pays for these terms dearly. Questioned by those she actually has feelings for, outcast by all but the most feral, violent members of X-Force, and shunned by the high decision-makers as not fit, X-23 / Laura Kinney, as Wolverine once said about her, "...Has never been 'fine' one day in her entire life."
