TOP COMICS OF THE WEEK (12/18/13) !!!!!!!!!!EPIC WEEK!!!!!!!!

This was a great week for NON-MARVEL & DC comics.

List items

  • Damn I'm gonna miss this this amazing series. This was an emotional and heart-warming epilogue. I wasn't expecting a happy ending for this comic, but I'm glad everything worked out. All the loose-ends and threads came together here. All the characters got to shine for the last time. Gabriel Rodriguez bought his best artwork for this final issue. Thank you Joe Hill for this amazing comic. I'm excited to see what he is going to do next. I would recommend everyone read this underrated series. It is one of my favorites of all time besides Y: The Last Man and Preacher. A minor issue I had with this was the price [8.99$]. A bit too high for 45 page comic. Despite that gripe, I GIVE THIS 9.5/10!!!

  • Image has been putting out so many new comics every month, I try to check out the ones that interest me. I end up dropping them after the couple issues like Velvet, Pretty Deadly, Black Science, East of West and etc. The most hyped up comics most of the time let me down, so I tend to check out some of the comics from Image that go under the radar. I'm so glad I checked this comic out. In JUST two issues, this comic totally hooked me and became by favorite Indie series. This issue had me on the edge of my seat. The black and white art also fit this book perfectly. I highly recommend you guys check this out. There's only 2 issues out. 9.5 (MUST READ)

  • THE PRIVATE EYE #5 BY BRIAN K. VAUGHAN (There is no wiki yet for the new issue, so I will change this later). I'm loving this digital comic from BKV. I think this is way better than Saga. The world that he and Marcos Martin built is amazing. The art continues look phenomenal. 8.5/10

  • Wow this was great. Reminds me why I loved Samurai Jack. 8.5/10

  • Another great issue. 8.5/10

  • The story progressed big time here. A lot happened here. 1-2 charters die here in Brian K. Vaughan fashion. This was great. Gwendolyn is in big trouble. 8.0/10

  • Ales Kot is doing some interesting stuff with this series. Each issue tells the tale of Edward Zero from different time of his life. This issue started a bit slow with confusing dialogue, but picked up at the end with a bloody and brutal fight. The art here looked great. The style was like David Aja's Hawkguy, but much more dark and gritty. I would love to see the artist and colourist from this issue of Zero draw a Punisher comic. This was a good read, and I want to know about Zero. 7.5/10

  • I haven't quite enjoyed the last few issues. #34 got better. All the charaters besides Daredevil got a strong showing in here. I loved the sequence with Matt Murdock and his Ex in the park jogging, loved Samnee's art in those panels. 7.5/10

  • Finally Mary Jane does something smart! The superior Venom looks hella weird and hideous. Anyway, this was good read. 7/10

  • This took a break from the main story by putting Animal Man in space. I kind-of liked this. The decision Buddy Baker makes in here might come back to bite him in the ass in the future. I'm sad to see this series end, but at-least he will still be around in Justice League of Canada. 7/10

  • I expected a bit more from this series coming from the #0, which I really liked. It's nice to see some fun in DC comics. I like that they took the Hawkeye-like approach for this book. However, I didn't like the pacing of this issue. The jokes were also kind-of not that funny. I like this new world they are building up for Harley. I will pick up #2 since I'm a big of Jimmy Palmiotti. I'm optimistic to see where the story goes. 6.5/10

  • All New X-Men has been my favorite series from Marvel, but this issue was not great. X-23 was written badly here. The plot as a whole was pretty weak. Villains are pretty uninteresting also. I'm hoping ANX bounces back to being awesome with the upcoming "Trial of Jean Gray" cross-over arc. 6/10

  • This will be my last issue of this series. I wouldn't say the writing or the story is bad, but nothing really major has happened yet. There are 9 issues already. Last issue showed a little promise, but instead we got a flashback. I think the writing has been good, but it is too slow for my taste. I will miss the art though. 5/10

@madeinbangladesh: Yeah and although it will make collecting them quicker to do, it's a shame that it's ended as there isn't too many IDW series with as much praise.

Yea, there aren't many IDW series that I read. TMNT and Samurai Jack are really amazing though.

Need to get the Locke '& Key stuff in trade as I love Joe Hill's novels but never read any of his comic book stuff, and I've heard this is his best comic work.

It's a must-read series for me.

I liked Ninja Turtles.

And I agree with the Daredevil thing, it did seem to pick up again. The two previous issues were piss poor in my opinion.

yes. I didn't like last issues that much.

I need to read Locke & Key. I haven't yet, but I've heard good things about it, so it's been added to my ever-growing reading list!
