BEST COMICS OF THE WEEK (1/1/14)! NEW YEAR, NEW WRITERS

List items

  • This series continues to continue with new twists and turns. Clone reminds me of one of my all-time favorite comic Y: The Last Man, which is a great thing. Schnulner makes me want to read the next issue badly with the BKV stylized endings.

This was brutal issue with couple of torturous scenes. The writing continues to change the momentum of the story. The art remains to be very detailed and great-looking. This is a must-read on-going that is not being apprenticed enough. 8.5/10

  • The first few pages almost threw me off. Jonah Hex's adventure in the present time continues to be very enjoyable read every month. 7.5/10

  • I was somewhat confused with the premise of this comic maybe becuase I haven't read Sandman yet. It does grab my attention by the ending of this issue. I will check out #2. 6.5/10

  • Pretty much nothing happened here. Why is this still tied to Infinity? Didn't that event end a month ago? THe story was okay, but the best thing about this # was the art. It looked fantastic. 6.5/10

  • So what happened after Batwoman and Batman started fighting? What happned to Kate Kane's sister? What happened with Director Bones and the DEA? Are we supposed to move on without a resolution to the big previous story?

Even though I liked this new start, I can't get past the major issues. The art actally was really good. I would even say it looks better than the previous artist on the book. I'm going to see where the next issue goes. 6/10

  • I really wanted to like Jeff Parker's new saga of Arthur Curry, but the story kind-of bored me. The only part that I really liked was Aquaman fighting the Kraqan, which reminded me of the giant monsters from Pacific Rim. I think the Kraqan was inspired by the Kaijus. Nice one Jeff Parker ;)

The art was not that good either. In some panels, the faces look really off. Maybe because there were 2 artists. More evidence why multiple artists in a comic is a terrible idea.

I will give it another issue to see if it improves. 5/10
