Simply YES. This series doesn't have to worry about comic story strings 'AT ALL' because it was created on television and as such is easier to catch up on.

I've actually spent a wealth of time for (better or worse) obsessing over the Beyond universe. I feel like I have a pretty good grip on what it was essentially about.
It was a dark future were heroes where broken and villains controlled everything. Blight/ Mr. Freeze/ Curare were bad but they all are villains with some since of order to them, and in that order people could still live. But the chaos created by the Joker gang completely crumbles society, and that led to the re-creation of Batman.

A theme in the series and cross overs was the reemerging of the hero, new heroes and survival of the struggle in this dark future more fit for jokers. What a good line of three or four Beyond titles would do is bring the rest of the DCU into Batman's darker idea of reality, essentially modeling everyone from a more human batman perspective/ where as everything now is all super powers and alien planets, I'd say modeled more after Supermans experience.

There are a few Beyond teams to start with already: Bat and Bruce, Justice League Beyond, Zeta Project (the short lived tv series of the same universe), Static and Gear (the mature veteran heroes).
With additions of Wonder Woman for the old people banter with Bruce and Clark alone.

I recommend another short series that shows the events that destroyed the watch tower, and set in-stone who survived and who died, and make the proceeding on-going books as Batman shining as the example of heroism, opposite to the current universe. But this universe is ground for new characters, if more than the Flash or Green Arrow legacy was continued it would be too much.

This game is under whelming...

And I'm not just saying that to be negative. The combat is last generation, and as we all know, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE COMBAT.

I'm planning a zombie story, (with numerous female characters) and came upon an interesting question.

In select Zombie Apocalypse stories, a woman is pregnant. This is usually handled in various ways, marking the woman for death, or others through the will of the writer making her kill proof. In contrast to the "Last Man on Earth trope" (where most guys would say lots of fun) I can't help but wonder what is the natural female role in such a situation.

What would logically (not concerning censorship of readers) be the role of a woman in the desperate times of an
Zombie Apocalypse:

To birth the new world, while her partner fights the advancing undead?

Or to free up her energy to fight the undead with him?

Or a third option, your thoughts.

WHAT? No. Killer Croc IS NOT BELIEVABLE, and would mark the change in the Batman (movie) world if brought to life. Could only happen with an re-imagining.

For that purpose Mr. Freeze could just be a hit man, or as Clay Face grotesquely ugly.

That goes to show you... a good enough writer can bring back any concept.

Moreover, I think this game more than anything right now is creating a lot of problems in the expectations department.  Knowing SOE and the games they develop, as well as knowing the way an MMO works, I think people are looking at this CGI trailer and thinking "I want to play THAT".  However, you aren't going to play anything remotely CLOSE to that.  Instead, you are going to play something where your character will stand around and sway a little bit, then you hit a button between 1 and 8 on your keyboard to make him use a skill, and you'll repeat that over and over.

I agree here, but I'd like to add that DCU is probably being pushed back, do to re-programming. What jakob187 is talking about is the old MMO model, the grinders. The reason I stopped playing back in 06, they're not really... fun.
This is the hope for me! This is kind of a plug, but check this out!

Example:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-10-guild-wars-2/704710

Notice anything? They move while they fight. Now this is a fantasy mmo, in that re-guard its a little safer than a super themed game. But while City of heroes is still occupying its niche, Its lack of gratifying combat opens the door for competition, and in Superhero games its all about the combat.
The next big superhero mmo while have to have contact combat, destructible environments, extensive character customization, strong class division, and thrilling movement, its all about movement!

But judging by the combat footage, this game may suck, if they don't change it up.

It's not a bad idea, its just got to be focused. The only thing is the powers that the player creates at the beginning have to clearly evolve as the game progresses, example: cyclops optic blast- lvl1 straight shot, lvl2 aim (first person targeting), lvl3 bounce surfaces, lvl4 big shot, lvl5 etc...

And traditional turn based fighting would suck, if it weren't an MMORPG. The real world setting of X men demands more physics based fast paced action. The game would also have to have enough events to breakup the everyday routine: Juggernaut smashing though school walls, attacks in New York, Protect Morlock Peace rally, Find Lost Student, Black Bird flight training, etc.  Or if your a rebel: spray paint turf, prison breaks, car theft, gang wars, etc.

Then specialized missions based on the makeups of the players powers: bomb defusing=electricity, reconstruction after fights=telekinetic, information gathering=telepathy, house fires=water.

The real question is if the game were mostly school years (Bully), missions as an X man (inFAMOUS), or a hub-world of New York that the player goes on to some greater mission from.

(For a What If? New Mutant "Squad Era") Your character makeup makes different students like you better starting off, strong friendships make "bonds" that insure students will be on your squad. The team changes and grows-up together. On key missions (Savageland, Genosha, Asteroid M, Deep Morlock Tunnels, Madripoor, Muir Island, Mutant Town, Hell Fire Club London, Mountains Canada, Egypt, etc) characters can die, never to comeback, but maybe replaced with other students. A balanced thought out team would make power combos and that cause additional effects to the enemies and environments.

Got to be an action RPG though...

What you talkin bout. She'll be great, I mean think about the director. After the master piece that was Ironman would he even allow her to suck? NO.

Also she may not be a singer, but acting is what she does. Best-Believe this movies is going to ROCK!

And yes she should come back for Avengers. But not have her own origin, keep it as a sexy mystery.
