I like viewing different styles from different artists and while I certainly appreciate that talent and effort put into "realistic" art, I like Allred, Takara, etc. There is so much to enjoy both from the past and hopefully in the future with comic artists and having everyone pretty much draw everything the same (since it will be realistic), then a very important part of comics will be gone.

I remember reading a book this year that had actual pictures of real people in the comic -- I can't remember the name but it was centred around a down on his luck paparazzi and some kind of evil cult. Anyhoo, I didn't like it at all. I think I would feel the same about other comics featuring "realistic" art. I'm going to go read the CBR article now, thanks for the link.

No Black Widow option? Kinda obvious it should be her.

The X-Men, specifically Wolverine and Rogue although I would be hard pressed to choose my favourites now since there are so many characters that I enjoy, like Elektra and Sif, etc. Avengers are a recent add on as well

If anything, I think my tastes are turning more and more to the independents. Characters like Lady Mechanika, especially.

I've not read Silver Surfer with any consistency before so I guess it's easier for me to go with the flow, so-to-speak. It's disconcerting finding the character be less formal in his speech patterns and not too sure about the whole "human disguise" thing he had going on in that preview story that came out. I don't know if he ever had that ability before, I am assuming not.

Allred is a favourite of mine so I did get a visual treat, throughout.

I was going to go with Emma Frost but Captain Marvel edges her out, although just slightly.

Professor X - (yes, I know he's "dead" but I am clinging to the not-presently-being-written-in-an-X-Book rule)

Chamber

Dust

Blink

Elixir

Leech

Oya

Pete Wisdom (or is he in one of the new UK books?)

...and lastly Hope, because I think Marvel dropped the ball with this character.

I had the same reaction to Magneto's decision to follow in the steps of that Nazi although I don't quite know what to make of his belief that because he was spared, he is meant for greater things. I mean, I could be convinced that it's to showcase his arrogance (which is a big defining aspect of the character) but it causes some alarm.

I don't necessarily agree with Magneto but I can see how morality in terms of killing/not killing can be molded to accommodate him. I got a little worried with the cleaning woman but that too is important to note since Magneto pulled back and questioned himself which is a good thing.

Really enjoying this book.

Those are a lot of options.

The easy way out would be to claim the character is the victim of poor writing but it's been some time now since the whole Schism/ AvX brouhaha and I've come to appreciate how Cyclops is being portrayed. I do find him flawed in his way of thinking but not flawed in any malicious, evil way. My concerns about him becoming the old Magneto and spiraling down into a villainous role didn't come to fruition, so I've been able to clear the biased fog in my head and understand the reasoning and intent behind Cylops' decisions and behaviour. Doesn't mean I agree with them but as a fan of the character, I am back to enjoying him.

Now, get him back with Emma and I would be a happy camper.

The build up leading up to the release is great, at least from my point of view. When you have that kind of art preceding it, expectations are going to be high and mine definitely are.

So yep, I am looking forward to it.

Too difficult a story to translate into either medium -- cinema/television ongoing series. Maybe a five part TV special would work better -- long enough to get it right, but short enough to avoid what could be considered a boring premise.
