This new site layout sucks. Just in case it wasn't obvious.

Not digging the change in Steel.

Would you have preferred a new armour or some device instead to prevent the spread of the Doomsday virus? Pak is at least addressing Steel's infection by this disease so that's one merit of the event's writing. Plus IIRC Steel went through an organic steel look in the weekly 52 series as well.

@rustyroy: Hal's movie bombed because of poor script, terrible effects, bad acting and a generally lackluster effort in adapting Hal's stories onto the screen. Not because the public thought Green Lantern was supposed to be black which obviously did happen. But all the John Stewart fans have made a pseudo Civil Rights Movement out of John Stewart being in the DC Cinematic Universe. Heck, over at a site called GreenLantern.co, the posters there threatened a major boycott of all DC films if Hal Jordan, not John Stewart, is in the Justice League film. I personally find that unbelievably unfair and silly not to mention pointless.

^^^^^ This.

Besides, the whole "the general public doesn't know who GL is" argument for John holds no more weight than if you used Hal or Kyle or anyone. If they don't know who GL isn't, then it doesn't matter who is being used including John.

Furthermore, Kyle is Hispanic, Simon is middle-eastern and (not that they should because he isn't a Corp member) Alan is gay. Those are just as, and frankly more progressive than having a black superhero. Being diverse isn't limited to just adding more African-Americans. (or whatever, since Idris is English lol)

People do cling onto their childhood favourites though. For most of the John Stewart fans, who I'd imagine are black, seeing that character on TV was a big deal to them. And I don't deny that the DCAU version of John Stewart was great and had a nice development. But that cannot be the sole basis for including John in the film as it diminishes his role to a token member which isn't right IMO. And you're right in that there are so many other racial minorities who won't have a representative superhero in the Justice League film yet that won't stop them watching it.

  • Wonder Woman looks absolutely amazing! Azzarello is delivering the goods on what he's built up to for some time now. This sounds like it'll be a gloriously twisted end to his superb run thus far. And The First Born looks horribly monstrous now, it befits his character after all.
  • Not much to go on with Justice League United but I hear good things about the 0 issue so I'll see for myself when I read issue 1.
  • Grayson is surprisingly intriguing given the direction they're taking him in. Dick as a spy seems so strange and yet so interesting. Plus I'll be curious about what role Helena has as Dick's new partner.
  • I know it'll boost Superman comic sales and all but I haven't been impressed much by Doomed. Granted it's probably the best Superman event in The New 52 to date but that's not saying much. I don't want to read Monster Superman stories, I want to read Superman stories so I won't spend any more money on Doomed issues. Hopefully the post Doomed status quo will be interesting enough and Unchained can tide me over whenever it comes out.
  • I like the look of Smallville Season 11 though. The Lantern arc hasn't appealed to me due to the art but this looks decent.

@dragonborn_ct: Excellent write up of the episode Caio. Personally I almost enjoyed this as much as last week's one. And that episode set the bar quite high in quality. Yet Arya's touching scenes with The Hound, Oberyn getting his chance for revenge and justice on The Mountain and the DAYUM creepiness of Littlefinger ramped up to 11 didn't make for a bad episode at all. I just wish it wasn't taking Memorial Day off though it's obvious why it's not on at that time.

@lvenger: Have to admit, it's a tough matchup in all honesty...

Well there are less Juggernaut fans than there are Hulk fans so at least the flame war won't get too out of control :P Also agreed, I've always been of the mind that Juggernaut is more difficult for Superman and other DC powerhouses to deal with than even World Breaker Hulk. Juggernaut's defensive forcefield poses more of a problem than Hulk's offensive damage output.

@bezza: Probably Action Comics myself. I don't trust Johns' New 52 writing and what he's been doing recently. Whilst Pak's stories aren't perfect, they're definitely on the right track and after the crossover, he'll have more creative freedom to write his own stories which is what I prefer to see over Doomed.
