First off I need to comment on all these people commenting on Babs. Get off it. If you didn't like the review fine, but get off the reviewer's back, especially when you know next to nothing about that person or their point of view. Personally I take a review for what it is; someone's opinion of the content and how they feel it's put together and works. That said, I can agree with both G-man and Babs. They both make compelling points and I agree with Babs on the fact that everything just sort of happens strangely. That's not to say that it's disappointing, well maybe a little, it's more like things started out one way and now suddenly they've shifted into a completely different gear. I don't know. It just feel like Norman's mental instability is being used as a heavy handed plot device. Oh so now Norman who's been the brilliant foe and bane of all super hero existence is suddenly just a complete crazy man and doing something specifically against the wishes of the President of the United States of America and now the only hope against that is the heroes we all know and love?
See that isn't a bad story idea, it's just the execution has been lacking. I'm with G-man and Vance, if you have a love for the Avengers which I assuredly do, there are moments in this where you are just floored at how excited it gets you. You're like my God that's BA, or Jesus all these people are together again. But though the action is interesting and like G-man it brings back a lot of fanboy fervor for me; I also find myself disappointed. This whole thing has been a little ham fisted. If Chicago wasn't enough to get the nation behind him, I could see Norman going farther, doing more. Yes Norman is arrogant and crazy; but he's also not stupid. He would have played this smart, all the while making our heroes look like villains. This should be a very skewed moment for the Marvel U, but instead it's "Oh look that dude is evil." "Oh we told you so..."
The Avengers should have gotten a moment to feel like the X-men, here in Siege. The whole world is against you and you do the right thing, not because people approve, but because it's the right thing to do. Heroic age could have been build from that very tagline and after all was said and done, the world could have discovered the truth about Norman. But instead things sort of seem more spectacle than substance. But like many people that visit these boards, that's just my opinion.
