The city screamed
In a voice made up of over two million people, it rang like a bell with the desperately anguished anger, of the city screaming in rage. The heroes had been instinctively sensed, like an infection in the body of the city, it reacted violently towards them as one. Hoards of people rushed towards the area, flooding the streets around the heroes. Even taking to the roofs, they burst out of shop windows, front door & alley ways. Surrounding the would be saviors of the city, they swarmed in like locusts. Kicking punching biting screaming, they came on regardless of injuries, the citizens trampling each other to death, just to get at the heroes. Hundreds maybe thousands, of the injured or sick including women & children, lay beneath the bloody mobs feet crushed & broken.
Beneath a cities feet, all because the foreign heroes thought their presence would go unnoticed. But it was the use of magic that made things worse, much much worse, the madness increased exponentially. In fact the magic it's self in the city, would start to become increasingly chaotic, it's effects more random, more devastating. God have mercy on those currently working spells in the city of Rio. As they would be the first to turn on their freinds, as the hallucinations & voices found their way in through their magics.
The City of Rio was sick, trapped in a howling storm of insanity, that only fed off mystical energy like greedy invisible worms flying in the night, William Blake would be proud. The madness began to take hold even more, those closest to the epicenter of ever increasing craziness started to change physically, in droves as their bodies twisted into unrecognizable grotesque shapes. Hideous terrifying yes but powerful. The Brazilian heroes all lost now, who had until this moment, been randomly flying around killing the citizens of Rio in many new & interesting way's, their minds & souls long gone, stopped as one & screamed in chorus with the city.
The living breathing giant monster that was up until this morning the main building for the university of Rio, got up & blocked the heroes path. It's Towering humanoid shape, built up of smaller university buildings, bending connecting & reshaping themselves transformed in some mad fashion. The sky began to darken storm clouds grew ever thicker, rain fell the color & texture of blood, lighting thunder split the sky. It all started so fast, then it went decidedly down hill in the City of Rio, as things really began to get crazy.
