I've spent quite a lot of time doing the ranking/battle thing, and I don't see any changes in the numbers.

It updates every 10 minutes. If it still doesn't change let us know. We'll check it out.

Well, let's say I put Captain America above Batman in unarmed combat and when all abilities are at use (I don't think I did, this is just hypothetical), where would I look for the change in numbers, and what would they be?

Well, we're lucky enough at this point that there's not a million people here yet, so you should be able to see the numbers change when you make votes.

To see the change just write down or remember the win/loss for a certain character on the unarmed combat page, then cast a bunch of votes, then check if those numbers change in 10 minutes.

Ok. I also noticed almost the entire list changed completely just a little while ago. So maybe I was missing something.

Yeah, the changes are going to be pretty dramatic the first few weeks since there's such a low amount of votes. It'll even out over time and then we'll prolly make a minimum battle amount for characters to show up.
