@lcazt1996: Its not being pessemistic, its being REALISTIC. Those kind of marriages rarely, if ever work out. Im in my early 20s, and I had around 5 friends who got married to their high school girlfriends. All but one of them are divorced now, and the other one doesnt have the best relationship. I wouldnt be surprised if they get divorced soon too. Oh, and they all dated much longer than 2 months.

woah woah woah. I dont keep up with Marvel too much, but last I read Iceman and Kitty were together. That was as recent as Battle of Atom or whatever that was, and that really wasnt that long ago. I only heard about these guys together a few months ago. Marriage seems super fast.
Dude BotA was a year and a half ago and Kitty and Pete got together really soon after (like three? months after) so it has been a little over a year since they first became a thing. I totally approve of this. I loved the idea of them being together way back when and I love it now. Hardcore long distance relationship game right there.
a little over a year is a very short time for any relationship to develop into marriage in the real world. In terms of comic relationships its a CRAZY short amount of time.
Exactly, a year in comics is a few months in real time. Add to that the fact that the majority of the time was spent apart with him in space and the whole thing seems rushed and stupid. They should have just had them get drunk and do it in Vegas, that would make it slightly more realistic.

My friend's parents got married when they were 17 and had known each other for a grand total of two months.
They're still married to this day, over 20 years later.

Well congrats to your friends parents. That is astronomically rare though. Its rare nowadays to stay married that long (especially in a first marriage), it is even rarer for teenagers who get married to actually stay together, it is freaking needle in a field of hay rare for a couple to stay together after getting married after 2 months. It obviously happens very VERY rarely, but that doesnt mean its realistic.
