is spider-man unlimited that bad.

i was watching spider-man unlimited i guess in preparation for ultimate spider-man on Disney XD (yah). It got me thinking, was spider-man unlimited that bad. And was the 90's version that good. It also made me think how good spec spider-man was. I mean the fight scenes in that was amazing. Try telling me that when peter fights kraven those two times, isn't it like wow. But i would just to know your opinion.

oh and if your reading Disney, try to show more of spidey's strength. Show him i don't know throwing a jeep- he does it all the times in the comics. Prove to the average layman that Spidey has quite high levels of strength. I've yet to see a program which shows this- alt spec spider-man did show his durability, speed and agility a lot during his fights.

Until next time- farewell

Spider-man TAS was brilliant in its time for animation and the voice acting is still great even now.

I'm not sure I saw all of unlimited (was that the one with the tech-suit and animal people?) if it was that one the reasons it failed in my opinion was:

1. They screwed up Venom and carnage so bad

2. Apart from Spider-man the voice acting wasn't that great(even then it was average)

3. Storyline for me was irregular and pointless.

Then came TNAS which wasn't bad the animation made it look like an Ultimate Spider-man comic, problem was it had some bad writers and by the end of the series it was pretty bad. Spectacular Spider-man is probably as good as the 90's TAS but it just didn't keep me interested. I think the Peter character in it was almost a little to immature which wasn't the case with the 90's one (I know he was meant to be 16).

Now they are making a new series called Ultimate: Spider-man which could be good as long as they take notes from the 1st run of Ultimate Spider-man comics and don't make the same mistake as Spect and make him to much of a kid (this is just my opinion obviously other people will think differently).

Regarding your thoughts on basing things on the first run of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics I think it's worth mentioning that the series starts "in medias res" (In the Middle of Things) much like the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon did. The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon will SUPPOSEDLY start after Peter has been Spider-Man for approximately a year.

@Baron_BJ: I haven't actually read anything about it yet all i'd heard was that it was being based of Ultimate Spider-man. I wonder why they never explore the origins of the character in the TV series but they are quite happy to repeat it twice in the film industry I just don't get it. In my opinion the reboot would have been a lot better if they had started it like they do the series. By now a lot of people know Spider-man's origins (thanks to Sam Rami's trilogy) so why make it again? Its a missed opportunity to create a very good stand alone Spider-man film.

Because of the medium. They have all the time in the world to explore whatever they want for a cartoon show. Films are very restricted, and Peter has an iconic origin story. Plus with regards to these circumstances, everything in the reboot is a chance to do everything the first trilogy did wrong, right or better.

By the way I very much doubt the cartoon will be that Ultimate-y. The plot has already digressed from the comic book, so the "Ultimate" stamp is about as relevant as the "Amazing" stamp on the live action film.

@Amanthine: Awww really? I was looking forward to an Ultimate version AS as it was darker than 616 Spidey (come to think of it that's probably why they diverted). To be fair i'm not saying the new Spider-man film is going to be bad I think it has some good potential but I still don't see the point of remaking the entire origin story. Why not just reference it during flashbacks?

Well for one thing, there are characters in this new film that weren't present in Raimi's trilogy, namely Gwen Stacy (she was kind of in the third one, but meh) and Curt Connors, and some characters that were, aren't, like Mary Jane. (So far as we know, at least. She hasn't been in any promos or anything) They're also tying in Peter's super spy parents into Oscorp and the irradiated spider.

That's another thing why we shouldn't expect the Ultimate cartoon to be all that faithful to the comic, it is darker, I agree, that's why I liked it... But it's also Disney.

@Amanthine: Well as long as this new series of films gives me:

1. A Green Goblin who doesn't look like a power ranger

2. If they use the black suit I really hope they don't try and get creative and simply use this http://bajolamascara.universomarvel.com/images/2008/01/blackinblack.jpg in my opinion this design is to good to mess with

3. if they use the black suit they will obviously make Venom appear so he better look like this http://www.samruby.com/Villains/Venom/VenomBend.gif and not some black spider-man with a huge mouth. I won't be put out as long as they keep to the those 3 things! Somehow I doubt they will though.

But I am interested to see how the Lizard turns out in this movie as he's favorite villain (just after Venom).

Spider-Man Unlimited sucked so much. They put him in a place where he should never be (Alternate Earth), gave him a dumb new costume with a dumb ass cape, made him not be able to web swing that much, bad villains(made the symbiotes generic villians that wanted to rule something), and so much more! the worst Spidey series was the live action 70's series though... TAS, and Spec were both great series, and I have high hopes for Ultimate. The movie though, I have low expectations for.

@Amanthine: Doctor Connors was in the second and third and was mentioned in the first.

And I actually did like Unlimited as a show and wished they would have at least finished it. The reason why it seemed weird is that it was actually supposed to be 2099's show (the costume is the same with slight adjustments and colors) but the network decided to change it at the last minute.

He was in by name, like many other of the supporting cast, but not really done justice. Perhaps I should have said /Lizard.

Gwen was in the third by name only.

Curt was in by name and at least the part of his character that was Peter's science-y confidant.

I never really watched Unlimited. I remember not liking it as a kid because of the animal people, but I have no idea how I'd feel about it now.

But I really didn't think Spider-Man TAS was that great. I didn't like a lot of the voice acting, and Spider-Man not throwing any punches was pretty stupid.

Spectacular Spider-Man was incredible, and it's the definitive Spidey cartoon as far as I'm concerned.

Spider-Man Unlimited was horrible.

I use to think Parker's costume in the show was cool though.

@Strider92: as much as would love those suits, in Disney there is as much chance as wolverine appearing and gutting someone. Its Disney and they are very overprotective of ratings and what not. I think spec spider-man pushed the limits of what a kids programme can get away with. This why i'm not against a Spidey cartoon on an adult swim format, and maybe we can explore more of the 616 story lines like back in black and grim hunt perhaps?

@laflux: Yeah a Spider-man series on adult swim or even a Deadpool series (That would be awesome) would be a good idea.

See i liked it why i'm not sure and i really hate how they ended it with a cliff hangar. But i'd rather see Spider-man or Deadpool on a different network so they could do more with it

Yes, it's exactly that bad. It does have some "so bad it's good" or "so bad its funny" moments, but it's bad.

Had a unique idea, but it should have been saved for a mid-series arc at best
