Go ahead for Green Lantern sequel and Flash movie....

Is it me or are the folks at DC and Warner Brothers taking a really ballsy approach to churning out these flicks?  Don't get me wrong, but I couldn't be more excited about the upcoming GL movie, but in true comic book fan fashion I remain skeptical about the quality of the forthcoming big screen production.  Several red flags have already arisen from the plot synopsis.  The main one being the extremely early introduction of Paralax into the film.  The inclusion of this villain alone represents the DC/WB attitude towards producing comic book films in general.  It's almost as if they are ignoring the history of the character in order to catch up to the current story lines.  I guess my lingering question is "What if this movie truly blows donkey balls?".  WB already has a sequel in the works, and the same writing team is also working on the Flash movie.  Where do these characters end up if the first GL movie is a total flop, and what happens to the DCU's future in the moving pictures?  I guess it's kind of cool that DC/WB is taking a very Hal Jordan, "Let's do this now, and not think about the possible repercussions" attitude, but with Batman being DC's only major recent film success one would think they would be formulating some contingency plans.

There are no comic shops in my town.....

There used to be a place in Columbia, SC called Heroes and Dragons.  It was the only comics shop in town.  Unfortunately the place closed down, and Im forced to order any comics I get over the internet.  I don't really mind ordering comics this way, but it kinda sucks that I can't go to a local shop.  I don't get to try as many new titles this way.   There are no isles to browse.  There are no people to make suggestions to me based on what I already like.
I began my venture into the world of comic books as an adult.  I started reading Star Wars books when they were putting out those anniversary titles.  You know, the ones with the black hard back covers.  I loved the artwork and the stories.  From there I started reading Angel: After the Fall, because I love Joss Whedon.  Then I started reading Batman.  From Batman I picked up on Green Lantern stating with the Blackest Night arc.  Currently I'm venturing on to the Green Arrow books.  I think J.T. Krull's work with Rise and Fall is awesome, no matter how much it bastardizes Roy.  I guess my point is that without the physical comic shop I'm pigeon holing myself into certain titles because they relate to what I'm used to reading.
I guess my point is that people shouldn't take their local comic shops for granted.  They are places that you can go where people can guide you down your chosen paths, and help you discover new stories that you might not pick up on your own.  Please take the time to go to your local shop purchase things and support their prosperity.  Otherwise you might end up with nowhere to buy comics but the internet or big bookstores, and we all know that those places blow sometimes.
