With dragonballs the wishes are limited by the power of the one who activated the balls so the dragon isn't omnipotent in the first place. The wishes are also constrained by rules, such as not being able to grant the same wish twice for earth dragonballs, and namek's dragon not being able to ressurect more than one person per wish.
I honestly don't think the true fans would be confused at all. Any young kids who ARE confused could easily look up the character history online to resolve their confusion. Any causal fan confusion would be overpowered by the interesting storyline. (They could also have stated in the movie opening that its taking place in the past. )
So far I've read detailed synopsis only, but I DO want to see it, despite the fact that its been stripped of its original details. I'll probably get it in the next few weeks. I just hate when they change something this much. I don't mind missing scenes, but changing the entire storyboard and backround is a bit much. Post Edited:2007-09-22 15:53:33
Imagine a Popeye storyline where some crazed scientist makes a virus that kills spinach plants (like a variant of the tobacco mosaic virus or something).
Your teacher is right. They stripped out most of the subplots and the entertaining multiple supermen/coast city storyline. The original doomsday wasn't very verbal(nor did he appear to have much intelligence). He certainly wasn't a well known serial killer and was imprisoned in some kind of cage thing in a green suit with cables immobilizing him at the beginning. He laid waste to just about every superhero that got in his way until Superman got there. They "killed" each other simultaneously with a strong final blow. They have a few issues dealing with the funeral and burial, and then the multiple supermen plot started. Eventually Superman revives (apparently there was solar energy stored in his body that kept him from dying completely. they also had an "afterlife" thing where Pa Kent has a near death experience and saves Clark from some demon things and leads him back to the living world.)
Sounds like a question (and not really a point), and for the record, you asking it has brought me back to post. You're actually helping keep the thread alive. Post Edited:2007-09-22 14:12:25
